Best way to cure stupid people? Don't play with them.
Hiir I've missed you and I'm coming back to Fabul in 2.0 (if they allow server transfers) ^^
I missed you too! /hug
I must agree with Hiir.
I do try to heal everyone but I also have to keep priority on the tank, and manage hate and mp. If I would start running around everywhere, sometime it means I'm regenerating my mp slower and may run out of mp.
Also, about running around in Ifrit, most of the time when some WHM started doing that things went wrong pretty fast.

This seem to be neverend (´;ω;`).
I'm really glad someone made this thread. I main tank and whm. That's all I get to do 90% of the time. We'll use Moogle since that was the original situation here. Everyone is in the middle of the arena. WHM does not have to run anywhere to heal the DD. That's a poor excuse for tunnel vision. I manage just fine to heal the tank and keep all (not just one) of the DD full hp. Regen is easily the most misused spell in this game and I see so many WHM players just completely ignore it or spam it on only the tank. It's ridiculously cheap, quick cast, and virtually no cooldown. I can't count the number of parties I've been in actually getting to DD where the WHM literally never cast a spell on anyone but the tank or themselves and then complain that the DD died. Wat? Getting pomflared like a derp is one thing, but slowing dying over the course of a fight is entirely the WHM fault. OP is correct, most WHM don't know how to properly heal. The problem lies in the fact that everyone is so used to ARC or BLM stacking that you don't ever have to heal anyone. Yoshi is fixing that and the skeleton in the closet is rearing his ugly, non DD healing head.
Can't agree with Hiir.
Balad, multiple bards or Multiple WHM's - there should be no reason why you are not op top of healing. If you have to cure yourself, you're doing something wrong.
It's within my capacity to dodge, heal partially with specific abilities (If I have them, usually most DDs will have Pugilist skills for second wind.) And hate tools, failing that, it falls on you to take care of me, not the other way around. My range is tied to my target, your range is evasion only.
If you have problem keeping people alive in a broad sense, dedicate your healers. One for the tank, and one for the rest. Whoever's on the DD group should side focus buffs like Stoneskin on the target most prone to taking damage to alleviate MP strain. Then you can spot cure as needed.
I don't play healers in MMOs anymore because of the strain, but the concept has not changed, especially in FFXIV which actually leans a bit more traditional than other MMOs these days.
You can tell your DDs to pack elixirs all you want, but that goes both ways. If you're having MP troubles, or you are paranoid about going low on MP, use Elixirs liberally.
Other than that, it falls on the healer to heal. Don't excuse it. If crap goes wrong, crap goes wrong. But if you're playing triage on the onset, you shouldn't be in the fight to begin with.
Dear DDs,
You are expendable compared to keeping the tank and other healers alive.
You're friend,
Healers
P.S. Deal with it.
Owned10charlolDear DD,
If the tank is taking a lot of damage, DD are just going to have to use an elixir.
If the tank is not taking a lot of damage and my HP is not down, I'll cure you, but I won't leave my spot to do it. Come in range.
Stop getting hit so much. I don't have the MP for TWO tanks.
Hiir, WHM
