Heres the jp people that have their relics killing it. Notice that they incapped ifrits horns. Maybe this has something to do with it?

Running under Ifrit to avoid the field-wide plumes. Goddamn genius!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifM_v...layer_embedded

Also, that's a melee intensive setup. I approve.
It seems this version is very "up close and personal" as opposed to everyone keeping their distance in Hard mode.

From the looks of it you have to go melee intensive because the survivability of blm isn't there. They go with multiple warriors and multiple monks, I am guessing for the incap. Black mage would get destroyed if it got caught in a plume but it seems like going with monks gives you dps + that little extra edge with surviving if you get caught int a plume

It didn't do the hellfire for the entirety of that video, which is interesting because people were reporting that they supposedly go off every 3 minutes. Either the 2 hour with the 13 nails is the last one there is or its completely avoidable somehow.
1:47 of the video.
Right on.
JP pt full of melee jobs on Ifrit~ They are always breaking the conventional wisdom on things.
We need more NA players who are willing to try new strategies with stuff... Sadly, too many players are just want the shortest and quickest line from point A to B - even if it's the riskiest/least dependable.
Sadly, people will even get stuck on this strat and before long we will hear shouts of "Ifrit Extreme, 2/8 PST MNKs only"

Actually, it's not nescessary on Hard because there is a very wide safe area around Ifrit (I think it's twice the diameter of his 'size' on the ground) that is there when he uses Plumes.
Can't say I ever defeated Ifrit (lies, after 38 defeats, I killed him once), but as a Dragoon, Plumes were right up there with Jumps in my 'breather room' signs.
When I wasn't derping around and was way the hell over there and got cornered by plumes and exploded anyway. I'm a bad.
2CH talking about the incap probably has to do something with this one.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifM_v...layer_embedded

Yeah, its just showing that the bard relic increases song timers by a minute. My guess with the incap is at the very least they need it because of slowed down regen for ifrit. It doesnt look like he has too much hp but it looks like theres alot of scrambling involved and you are going long time periods without being able to even get a single weaponskill off on him.2CH talking about the incap probably has to do something with this one.
