You don't need to add a music toggle. Just don't make it loop.
Let it play once, then proceed to area music. AFAIK this is how I remember it working on FFXI.

We'll take it into consideration.™
yeah it's a good idea, but i prefer with a music toggle function..
so i can keep enjoying the music background without being cut by the chocobo themes when i need to run a chocobo..
otherwise you can set it default too if you want to hear the chocobo themes play when you're riding it..
so it's a good feautre i think..
cheers
I feel like the fade-out theme in XI was ideal for that specific game, but you also weren't on your mount anywhere near as often as you are in XIV. I dart around so much in short bursts that a fade out wouldn't really make much of a difference. The only time I really feel the music suitable is when leaving town via NPC. I would prefer that with no music when calling out in the field.
But that's sort of superfluous when a simple toggle would suffice for a majority of us on either camp.
Can't wait for the toggle. I have my music turned off entirely because I can't stand the blaring trumpets every time I get on my Chocobo. It was nice for the first few days and then it got really old really fast. I just want to hear the zone music while I ride around.
What you basically said was "anytime I'm doing anything that isn't riding a chocobo, I'm riding a chocobo."
Really?
Directly asking for community rep responses usually produces the opposite of the desired effect.
Don't misunderstand me here. I love the music in the game and i share your passion for it. But I'm *not* on a mount unless i'm in a hurry to get somewhere. If I'm in a hurry to get somewhere I'm not really any more likely to hear the whole music track even if the chocobo music isn't playing.
Please show me a detailed graph, with references and a bibliography, where it shows that asking for a response from our game makers returns the opposite. In lieu of this, I will accept your Community Team Deputy NO Police badge. Don't you have a job to do on Gamer Escape?
Back on topic, I love that line. 'Don't make us talk shit about the chocobo music.' It's a classic, and we all love it. But when I'm exploring on Shamarhaan (Puppetmaster at heart <3), there's nothing like looking up at the impending, fiery doom and being so...happy about it.
Trumpets, man.
I have always been a proponent of how this was done in FFXI. After one loop, zone music kicks in.
All i have to say is, WTH is your problem? Please show me a detailed graph, with references and a bibliography, where it shows that asking for a response from our game makers returns the opposite. Begging for a response may or may not *reduce* likelyhood of a response, but it sure doesn't help it. If they don't respond, it's because they don't have any information to give. The community team are messengers and translators, not databases.
I'm not the no police and I have said YES to tons of suggestions on these forums. But in most cases, support for a suggestion is given with likes, rather than a detailed explanation of why you like the post.
I didn't even say "NO" to this. I don't know what you're getting bent up over. Is your only purpose on this forum to call out and criticize anyone who doesn't automatically agree with everything on this board? Or maybe you just enjoy trolling me?

I think what the OP is upset about is instead of simply agreeing or disagreeing, you felt you had to, in essence, tell her she was posting "the wrong way". One may get the impression that you feel you're speaking for the community reps, or that you've taken it upon yourself to "shield" them for some reason. All i have to say is, WTH is your problem?

It was passive disagreement, with a dash of arrogance. If you don't like the idea, just say you don't like the idea. Be more direct! That way, you don't hafta worry about people getting the wrong impression.
As to the OP, I was just thinking about this yesterday. I agree with what a few people have said in this thread. Loop the music once, then fade into the regular music. A toggle works, too, but there's gotta be chocobo music. It's Final Fantasy, after all!
Yeah, All I intended to say is that I'm not particularly bothered by it and I tried to give some context for my statement (That is, I don't spend every waking moment in the game on a mount).
Especially after explaining that I'm with the OP on how good the music in this game is, the last thing I expected was spout of hostility.
Well said, Eekiki, and I apologize, Alha, for my rash response, instead of a structured, thought out counter. I don't claim to be fully awake when I write these things....so while it's not an excuse, I hope you'll understand my lapse in judgement. In fairness to the conversation, I'll leave it unedited.
Also, little fun fact, I am a manthra (hoping to change that come 2.0). Misleading avatars are misleading, so apologies are in order there as well!
