Hello, everyone. Felt the need to finally stop perusing the forums and actually post this, as it directly pertains to my interests and is something I'd like to see happen. Hope I'm not the only one...
Music. I love it. It's been my fortesince I was four years old. As it turns out, Uematsu is one of my favorite composers, fanboy status aside. I met him last year in New York and I'll be doing the same come August in Columbus (thanks to a birthday present from my girlfriend). I like the cut of that guy's jib.
I could go on and on about his achievements, from working with 'chiptune' limitations of the 1980s (I've started working with these for a buddy of mine. Do you realize how hard that stuff is?), to striking up full orchestras for FFXIV and other games.
Uematsu aside, I love the work Mizuta and the other composers pump out to make our game sound great. I'm one of the guys that loves listening to the music that was intended for a specific part of a game. It pulls me into the world and it helps me feel like I'm there. I don't like to mess with .dats for the sake of changing the game around me.
The pomp and circumstance of Limsa Lominsa, the feel of adventure from the outer areas of La Noscea, the old school FF feel from dungeon raids....It's all great stuff to me.
And what do we hear 90% of the time?
This.
Personally, I feel like we're insulting the guy. Has anyone actually heard the full length of Coerthas or Mor Dhona? I know, I know. 'lolwolfdontlisten/swapurdats/turnonpandora.' No.
This game is huge. Have you been to some of the obscure parts of La Noscea or Thanalan? Those pointless areas with level 99 mobs and nothing to do around them? Fun to be in and explore. Is it practical to get there on foot where we can hear these melodies?
Also no. What do I get to listen to on the way there? The same thing I listen to going everywhere else in this game.

That's all there is to it, folks. Make it happen, SE.
