It's not SE's fault Microsoft wont allow non gold subs to have anything online and SE doesn't like that idea.This. M$ doesn't want SE billing those alreay paying sub to them so 360 won't have XIV (unless SE trick M$ and add XIV to POL...or turn FFXIV F2P when they add cash shop).
But Wii U can potentially run FFXIV and IMO the tablet controller would be magic for it gameplay-wise, going from software kb, map and actions to even some crazy remote-tablet interactive mechanics for stuff like gathering and crafting.
I support an Wii U version for sure...as soon as it's not just a porting. Would be lame FFXIV for Wii U using just the "hardcore gamepad" and a USB kb.
It's also not SE's fault that Microsoft wants to keep the system closed, be it the networking info or keeping the game xbox only, not playable with other systems.
With adjustments in Microsoft's policies in 2007, I do not believe a FFXIV port for a Microsoft console will be likely.
They did want to prove MMOs can run on it, but every single update they try to force XI off of its system or exclude it from its "smart delete" system when you clean up your cache or HDD (which of course people blamed on SE, but it's very obviously MS fault as you can prove it very easily.)
XIV won't happen on 360 until MS stops being greedy, but we all have our Zunes don't we?

don't really care about console MMO's too much limitation! I'll just stick with my PC's for online High Graphics gaming! Doubt FFXIV will go to XBOX unless M$ changes their closed system policy. WII U might happen but definitely wont happen until a few years after the PS3 release! This system may have the power and sold more units last gen (if u call the wii last gen), but the fact remains Nintendo is a casual market, and doubt it will sell well on the WII.
The problem will be the same as when FFXI hit X-box and PS2. The graphic's limitation of the systems (PS2 in this instance) prevented them from ever updating the graphics, the direct X system, and the resolution when there was plenty of opportunity to. Keeping in mind the older engine that XI ran on was not modular and therefore harder to tweak. This they noticed slowed their growth in the PC market as newer and next gen graphics cards came out, and prevented the release on PS3 (except on the backward compatible models).
I believe with FF14 that there is an effort to keep such flexibility alive, but with the PS3 graphics not yet topped out, and the 360's already peaked I don't believe they will port it to X-Box 360 at all. With the U's jump to current gen graphics It is not out of the realm of possibilities to see it get ported there. However the U's ultimate performance both offline and on have yet to be fully tested/realized, and then there is the issue with coding differences and the fact that Nintendo is focused on interactive motion games.
Best bet, /if/ X-Box get it, it will be on their next gen console. Wii-U /may/ see it but not i would say for at least a year.
That being said, with the new graphics engine being more modular than that of XI's, it is possible that they will follow the lead of several other long long running MMO's such as EQ and EVE, and create "Optional" graphics engine updates. The option to use better modeling, shaders, etc would allow computer users to continuously tweak their systems for the best visuals available while not making the console update beyond design limitations. This shift would allow them to span any and all consoles in that aspect. The only issue being that certain systems would have to accept lower resolution graphics and/or the machines would be working flat out.
So the possibilities are out there, but unless SE has had this in mind since the beginning of building the current engine it will take a long time to get it tweaked for porting.

1. Graphcis aren't everything and XIV already looks better than most of the MMOs on the market, Tera only looks good because it's bright and colorful, which is scientifically proven to catch most people's eyes first.
2. XIV's graphics are scalable with PC always being able to put out the best, this is the whole purpose of the new engine and client.
Remember: Graphics doesn't define the game unless that'sall it has going for it. Otherwise we would have never gotten past 8-bit era since the graphics were primitive so logically, developers shouldn't have produced games on consoles till the console makers got to the 16 bit+ era, no? If graphical capabilities is the determining factor of whether a game should exist somewhere then we have no need to keep producing games on current gen systems and wait for the 720/PS4/Wii-U.I believe with FF14 that there is an effort to keep such flexibility alive, but with the PS3 graphics not yet topped out, and the 360's already peaked I don't believe they will port it to X-Box 360 at all.
That's kinda why they let the more core 3rd parties have room this E3 to talk.don't really care about console MMO's too much limitation! I'll just stick with my PC's for online High Graphics gaming! Unfortunately they only wanted to talk about their upgraded ports.
Also, change the stupid name Nintendo, you're only going to confuse people.
You miss the point. It is not about the graphics. It is about the limits of the machines. SE never upgraded XI (and thus port it to more systems) because of the limitations of the machines it was already on. The flat out stated that XI was not getting improvements because the PS2 was already maxed out. This limited 360 players to PS2 level of graphics and stalled the market growth. With FFXIV's new engine there is going to be every chance that they could port to other game consoles since it is scalable. However Unless they designed it to grow a certain way, AND the servers to accept players at different versions of the engine (ones designed for each of the various console) instead of cramming all players into the same bottle, there will be no ports. That was the point of my post. It is not about who has the shinnier system, but can it be CODED to be flexible enough that each system regardless of limitations be used.1. This is going to change very soon tho. They already started developing FFXI upgrades that are accessible only to PC users so over time each console and PC will have different features, UI and graphics based on hardware performance. You miss the point. It is not about the graphics. It is about the limits of the machines. SE never upgraded XI (and thus port it to more systems) because of the limitations of the machines it was already on. I must say i'm dying to know what "Project XI" is all about...it will be presented at Vanafest (in 2 weeks) and i do would expect from graphic upgrades to PC version and PS3 porting (since PS2 is already at its limit and it was already discontinued in Japan) to even a real expansion.
