Suirieko, you make a good point that the PS3 launch will ultimately be FFXIV's final and biggest chance to remake a name for itself.

However, I truly believe that if Yoshi-P were to come out within the next week or two and post something huge and precise about future plans for Eorzea, it would get media attention from the big names like IGN and Gamespot. IGN just posted an article on FFXIV last week... This would essentially plant the seed in the back of everybody's mind and would only serve to be beneficial for FFXIV's rebuilding process. This needs to happen right away while nobody is talking about anything.

Then yes, there would be massive media interest, however i can't see anything less making enough of a splash.
Many PS3 players won't be fooled that easily into buying a game with this sort of reputation.

On a side note, if you believe the sky battle thing is too difficult to make, you're wrong. Even i have have enough skill to make that sort of thing from scratch in say, unity3d engine and six months of work.

There's still quite a bit of people who were originally waiting for the PS3 (especially Japanese gamers, I personally know quite a big community waiting to play) and as for the airship thing? It's not hard, I can make a basic system in about 3 weeks, but for an MMO? There's a lot more to take into consideration. Even Skies of Arcadia's was pretty simplistic.

No need to play the misunderstood prophet. You're just stating the obvious, however you're exaggerating. This game won't be saved by a PR stunt, nor it will die because a singleplayer game i will play and finish in one night comes out.
