How was it useful exactly? Give me an example where it excelled.

They could DPS while support/healing.

And no I don't think DRK accuracy sucked, they just sucked without an apoc. DRGs have always been mediocre without the Mythic.

For a DRG like myself, I had a 6hit Penta-TP set with 18% haste and 95% accuracy as /sam, and almost had a full healing breath set (all I needed was Homam and one other piece perhaps). Not only was I one of the few, if not the only, DRG to solo Greater Colibri at 10k/hr or greater, I did it with only a Thalassocrat as my best weapon, I was also main-healer in my merit parties which I gathered myself, and I was DPS/healer throughout endgame (though I've also tanked Kirin periodically).


I hit 95% accuracy on DRK with my Moliones's combination (which I personally went out to achieve, mind you), and I didn't even have much endgame gear. Of course I also easily had a 6hit TP set and the same 18% haste set as with my DRG.

Nope. Facts are facts. Everyone else agrees. DRG were decent soloers (not even the best at that) and that's the limit of it.

Quit talking out your a$$. Drg (was/is) not a crappy DD by any means. I've leveled every job there is to level in XI, and dragoon is far from subpar.

Just keep showing your filthy arrogance. DDing in FFXI wasn't just about spike damage (parses proved as much), and DRG wasn't about only DPS either. But then again, no other job even came close to the healing efficiency a DRG could put out (6mp for 600~800hp at any moment in time, and 6mp for 1200~1400hp healed every couple minutes), and while still being able to outparse most DPS.

oh and dont forget that SE nerfed Drgs Penta Thrust when Drg was considered that most powerful DD in game.
