Best gear: Darklight?

I'm not saying that DL gear sucks, of course (well, mage DL sucks, really), but just that most of it is overrated and it's not worth spending days trying to get it (unless you have fun doing it), since it's not the best gear in the game. Not most of them at least.

I think that's what they're trying to do. it's a placeholder of sorts, while you work on all your triple/quad melded crafted gear.

GC gear is there for people who don't have the time to raid for rare drops or resources to do multimelds.

The fact is, have or not time and resources to get DL pieces, that a good GC+AF+Melded+green gear is just better then DL (at least on some jobs, if not most of them).

Not to hijack your thread but I need to ask: Is capping out your two "attack stats" (ex: On DRG it's STR and PIE) more important than rushing for gear with +Attack Power?

Really hard to cap str and pie. However from what I know Str is for WS, while Pie (on drg, but well, secondary attack stat) and Attack Power are for Auto Attack damage.
So imho Str is more important since weapon skills are more influent during a boss fight.
Maybe it should be tested for DRG. Not hard since Drachen Gauntlets come with +40 Attack.

no not really, attack effects all damage but doesn't have a high return. STR will have a higher return until you hit the soft cap (generally around 350) at that point +att yields a higher return then STR. Check out the DRG forums there is a nice thread that will give you a better idea of the effects of stats
