If I recall correctly, the Enfeebling Potency stats actually only effects the added status riders that piggy back on damage moves, where as sleep runs off of magic accuracy.

As far as general thoughts. THM is definitely the most boring class to play, even if it's one of the most effective.

That's what I was thinking, but figured it had to have some effect to sleep, or it's really not very useful IMO. sure heavy and bind can help, but do we really need those traits for what little use they feel like they get? Kind of like you said, not very fun in that sense. Not a lot of CC spells, but enough to work with solo.

Also as far as Chameleon and quelling strike goes, that's if you're in a group and require those to reduce enmity. I tend to solo, so what use do i have for them still? I don't say I can't use any archer ability, but i have no use for them. So being limited to those 2 classes including Thaumaturge doesn't exactly ring solo friendly. The Enmity reducers are nice and i wouldn't say get rid of it, but i'm sure there are other ways they can handle the additional actions that allow for better solo play compared to focusing more on group play.

They focused too much on group play in FF11 and IMO it's not very fun because of that. I would almost go Red Mage if they added it and it included better solo play for a mage.

It's an MMO, not a single player game. There's gonna be a lot of group play, it comes with the genre.

Aha, and here is the one and only problem. Thing is, Black Mage is specifically designed with working in a team rather than solo. In fact despite whatever the reality is, the design space is that Jobs are better for groups since their weak points can be covered by others and Classes are far more solo-friendly since you can cross-class more skills.

So yes, you are far better with Thaumaturge (for Cure/Protect/Stoneskin) when soloing, and that is part of the design intent.
