Physical/regional servers FINALLY confirmed ??! (Y)

You cannot compare a game made back in 2002 with one from 2012, the technology jump is just too big.
Also, Sqaure Soft developed the new engine AND server structure only for 2.0. I'm sure they learned from their past mistakes.

I don't care if the technology is 2024. When things are done client-side, it opens a huge opportunity for programs to be written that read incoming data that playes aren't supposed to see, as well as manipulate outgoing data to exploit the game. This happens in any case where such data is handled client-side.

The lesson to be learned is that you never leave gameplay critical functions or data on the client machine, because there are people who can and will exploit and abuse it to their own advantage.

And some how that everything being on SE servers some how stopped all the RMT and Bots right? lol Doesnt matter if its Server Side or Client Sde you can still cheat and hack away. Somethings can be made client side, there is no reason to have everything server sided.

sorry but a mayor exodus of people following the sirens call of "you will perform muuuuch better, for realz" would pretty much kill any server community and economy and by that very much affect me

Also i had a giggle over the "kill any economy", that was funny.

When lag is "hardly nothing" as people expect in 2.0, a lot of people wont move server just for a few milliseconds when they have a home on a server already. Where as others who want to go to more regional specific servers, have the choice. And new players will also.

and if the lag is hardly noticeable in 2.0 it not only would people stop from wandering off to that regional servers

it would make regional servers a gigantic waste of money and effort: server equipment, rented space for the server farm, maintenance personal, development personal on location and so on...

pretty excessive for some choice

Why with a such important project like this (that already wasted a lot of money) can't we have STANDARD features like local servers, expecially if international servers will continue running ?
