And I'm sure plenty of us would prefer long cooldowns with varied activities than short cooldowns with less activities...JMO.
Hi Jynx,I hope you understand the RNG is going to be part of everything you do in some way / shape / form.
Luck is always going to have a factor in things. Hell Relic weapons aren't even massively related to RNG for the most part aside from needing a handfull of items dropped and a sucsessfull materia meld. Unfortunatly the game NEEDS time sinks at the moment wether you like it or not it's pretty much all we are going to get content wise until 2.0 releases and they don't have developement focused in two areas.
Relic upgrade quest was easy to implement because it uses currently existing game mechanics and content.
Hell even your list of suggestions has alot of "Luck" based elements in it.
I definitely understand the need for Time Sinks. But there are ways of implementing challenges to draw out content that *also use existing systems and mechanics and models* (like the ones I listed in my original post), that are less RNG / Dice Rolling than what we have now.
Perhaps we can aggregate various ideas from the community for Skill / Challenge-based methods to earn Rewards and present those to Yoshida-san and the Team?

Relics are not a common weapon, so stop complaining like you want it in 2 days. at begin in FFXI a relic could cost around 150.000.000 gils buying dynamis coins, or like years of playing to get your. sigh with new mmo players.

I wasn't really expecting relics at this point, was more of thinking AF weapons which goes with your AF armor so you look cool and from there they were going to add quests to improve the weapons more and more into the future so your AF gear sticks with any level cap increases... and those becoming more hardcore related content... but I guess I was wrong was hardcore from beginning lol.
You're completely missing the point of this thread. We want the RNG factor removed as much as possible, instead of relying entirely upon it. We are not asking for easy mode, we are simply asking that if we put in the time, there is guaranteed progression. Maybe not a lot, but if we spend 3-4 hours working on a quest there should be some advancement, whereas right now you could make no progression even if spending 8+ hours a day doing stuff.we are talking about relic weapons, if you guys wanted an easycake quest and get your OMFG weap...

With the current system, a player who dedicates 10 hours a week could get a relic before someone who dedicates 70 hours per week. Slightly broken, no?
As a side note, I hardly play this game anymore, so it's not like I'm QQing because others will get them before me. I simply hate this trend of total RNG they keep implementing.

We should not have relic weapons anyway in our pseudo endgame, save it for 70+.
Should've had a "decent" artifact weapon with story revolving around how each particular job is trying to combat the Garleans and Dalamud.
Would pay the 10m from failed dual melds straight up just to get this implemented correctly ~~

I was shown this picture, and while I'm not sure these are the official stats on relic weapons, I have to say I'm unimpressed with them. Yes, the weapons are great, but when you think of effort put in vs results it doesn't seem to add up.
Remember, this is not only the result of the current quest line, but also of quests coming in later patches.
