It isnt hard at all, Hamlet is easy as pie now for most people, people clearing 50-60k with breeze, crafting to be in top 20 is not hard, getting seals is not hard.

There is absolutely nothing hard about this, its just a pure grind fest based on random numbers so those who have binary luck will outdo those who are dedicated done hamlet over and over to try get just 1 seal XD.
Hamlet is only the "first stage" of the Quest-Line. Since there will be more "Hard quest", like its actually saying in the Notes, i would call it hard. Im not calling the Loot's of Hamlet hard. I call the whole Questline "somewhat hard".

People are actually reading the Notes?

Its repeatable, i dont expect much (they've said hard and challenging plenty of times and that has failed lol), the grind of hamlet is the painful part.

If it is one time only, then that I can deal with, but if i got to grind out hamlet each time, I will be pretty annoyed and likely wont do it at all.

I barely have the motivation to log on anymore. Actually, I have only logged on in the past three weeks when the Diablo3 servers are down for maintenance.

As far as Hamlet Defense and Relic weapons are concerned: the means by which you obtain the prerequesite for relic quests is an obvious attempt at forcing players to grind through a much anticipated and unfortunately detested instance by which i mean Hamlet Defense.

Due to the low drop rate of militia gear for any non top 20 suppliers and the difficulty of increasing the rank, most players had given up on Hamlet Defense less than a month after implementation. It just seems like SE forced a hamlet grind fest as prerequesite to relic weapons to prevent wasting what may be a lot of time and money on an undesirable event.

Which only reinforces the disgust. Then again, this is just my opinion and it's not worth more than 2 gil if you ask me.

True Diablo 3 is way better, what with its incredibly skill based gameplay, and excellent drop rates, and further purpose besides grinding the same thing over and over.

I detect a hint of sarcasm in your post, but i'm giong to pretend you're being serious.

Need I say more? Honestly this wasn't meant to be a plug for D3, it was just a transitory ntroduction to explain how i feel about FFXIV and you are making a big stink about it?

Lets break down what you said though, just so we are on the same page (assuming you are being sarcastic and mean the opposite of what you wrote: diablo 3 requires no skill, has horrible drop rate, and requires constant grinding. This is different from FFXIV how? Oh...right, no monthly fee and 6+ million player base in one week. One more thing, most of the content can be completed solo.

    The people have spoken.

However, that's not at all what my post was about. My post was directed at the fact that no one wants to do Hamlet Defense for obvious design flaws so SE slaps on grinding hamlet defense as a prerequisite to legendary/relic weapons. This is supposed to make people want to play hamlet defense? Judging by the responses in this thread, I think not. In fact, I think it will make players even more reluctant and spiteful of Hamlet Defense.
