    Everything look sub-par to that we already know with what we don't know... I thought there wasn't going to be "trickles of info" about FFXIV until launch...? I could call that bits and trickles of info about FFXIV 2.0- Nothing to write home about tho.

    I think it's fair to assume those are the actual textures. The new engine had to sacrifice something. You can't have spectacular everything, even on the most optimized engine in the world. Even the Cryengine has some real-time lighting issues. Not to mention, MMOs have a rougher time since they can't benefit from batching as much as other games (every dynamic object gets draw separately). The real-time lighting looks superb and the textures are par or slightly above par. If I was to complain about anything, the models are lower poly than the 1.0 models and the anti-aliasing looks lower.

    Honestly, I don't think we can expect much better than those screenshots, and I personally thing that's fine. Things look pretty damn beautiful for an MMO already.
