How I would work SMN into the game

Hmm yes, making it a DD wouldn't hurt one bit because pet jobs do not work like other DDs at all.
Like I said I don't see the need of an enfeebling class and a class/job dedicated to it would simply not work in this current system. The enfeebling system needs a huge overhaul before a class like that appears. Why do you want to force Summoner into a role that was never part of it anyway? Simply because it's first in the poll?
Like I said the poll won't have a huge influence in development because any class that's going to show up soon is already set in stone more or less.
Summoner and other mages have been mentioned by Yoshida himself months ago so they are all being planned/made at this point. If they're adding classes at 2.0's launch it won't be just one, you can be sure of that.

Just to let you know we had a great set of enfebs/debuffs/DoT's and they were removed, check the beastmen camps they still have them (damn Kobalds kept all the nasty ones). I think you're right though, were gonna get all those classes/job's, they are just testing the waters so to say. So you can have your SMN and go solo somewhere because your DPS won't be up to a BLM and I don't care how cool they look I'll be taking the RDM to enfeb/debuff/DoT on my endgame runs.
