    Well I wasn't the one that you originally quoted, but yeah, I'm sure that the poster you quoted was mentioning a cardinal direction...


    (IMO, that's another problem - people need to quit thinking that just because something came from one side of the real-world, that it should come from the same side in the game world.)

    Well, they are adding plenty of new areas. So I'm sure they'll add lore behind the new jobs they bring in. They did it with Blu, Cor, Nin, etc...

    As for thieves....I could totally see them coming from this place XD


    ...but that's just me ;p It's probably a beastmen stronghold for all I know.

    Actually as far as Dark Knights go, i'd like to see them come from the opposite. Arid Desert or salt flats. Including skills that involve Sand, rust and corrosion, Venoms and the removal of flesh and bleach white bones....mmm..yes....excellent.

    In some ways i agree with the OP but in others i dont. its not really Lazy if the class or job fits a "Far off whatever" Its only lazy if they had the ability, backstory and location in mind, but said heck with it and made them "from Far off whatever" anyway.

    I do like seeing classes and races have an original setting. It gives a good opportunity to bring additional themes, styles, aesthetics and architecture to game worlds....and is ALOT of work because in order to make the area worth anyones time, it alos needs to include quests, dungeons, npcs, maybe a town, points of interest etc.

    Adding an area devoid of any reason except for a class or jobs "home" is no better then to add jobs and classes without one. Perhaps a story mechanic where it starts with the class or job, and then at a later time, when they have an area fully fleshed out and ready, you can quest to return/take back that home is a worthy storyline aswell. (maybe a Job that has its origins in Al Migho(sp?)) Can be added at some time, and when we finally win it back, its home is presented. (THF mebbe? Would have to be sneaky and quick to survive the Empire as a resistance movement (Sabetour?)

    All in all, i like everything having a place, an aesthetic, a story and such, but as long as the reasoning and lore is quality, there is now bad way if its still interestingly done.
