Ya but you do understand that each class would get more then one job anyways right? Like how Pug later would get PUP and would have monk? and they be balancing two or more jobs for two or more diff reason one would be a pet class and one would be single dps and other could be a buff. Just how ARC would later get ranger and would also have bard for all we know.

So once again i don't see why they can't be two DRG like how each class going to have more then one job. I see CONJ getting SCH later on so they can be WHM and SCH.

End of story when they add pet jobs add one for Lancer with a dragon so everyone is happy "The End" problem fix

My point exactly. And honestly, there's not much we can branch off from Lancer Historically job wise.

Within the current Armory system, a second polearm 'Job' does not seem likely.

Other jobs with weapons feasable can do so fairly easily if we look at it.

Gladiator - > Red Mage.

Conjurer - > Summoner

Thamaturge - > Scholar

Pugilist - > Ninja (or Thief)

Archer - > Ranger

Warrior - > Beastmaster

All could follow the archetypes and weapon usages more than passably, with the only exception being Ninja, which could just wield Katars instead of 1 handed Katana.

Lancer? May have to go with Samurai, but would that be ok for the Katana-loving Samurai users?

This points more to the flaws in the Armory system as it stands, which throws a wrench in the idea that each Class will be getting additional straight jobs.

Trying to create cross weapon classes or jobs that can equip more than one base weapon will be a balancing nightmare, however. More than likely we will continue to see the 1 Class > 1 Job transition in spite of previous 'talks' about conceiving multiple jobs from classes. (They weren't straight out doing it, they were discussing the matter.) And we will see weapon variants that can be equipped by more than one class without changing their skillset. (Meaning if a Gladiator equips a Rapier they share with Fencer, they're not suddenly going to get a fencer's skillset with that weapon.) The problem with that of course is how they designate Classes and Jobs, which right now are primarily tied to weapons.

No matter what, we're likely looking towards a Armory System overhaul in the far off future (likely beyond 2.0 release.) Which really does not make the concept of creating Wyverns specifically for Dragoons any more likely. You're more likely going to see a Beastmaster be able to equip a spear and summon a Wyvern pet than Dragoons getting pets as part of its root mechanics.

I'm sorry but if most people want a pet for a drg why not? top of that it be a new job far away from a DRG it wont even be called DRG they could give it's own storyline and it can be DRG vs the new job how dark knight and PLD are diff but much alike in a way

i don't see the issue one day they going to add a lancer with a pet becuase people going to request it. If others can request dumb stuff why can't other have what they want? or is it all about what you want and not others? i can care less but i agree if other want it why not it just going to bring more people in even if it's small it better then noting becuase sadly we all know this game wont be any near over 4mil players any time soon.

Seeing as BST and SMN have been asked for many many times and all show support, yet every Wyvern thread (and this is far from the only one) has had not only a majority but a majority by a landslide against it. Good luck with the hyperbole though at least Yoshi can see through it and believes the majority do not want it.

SE, like most MMO devs, is learning how to filter out unecessary or unimportant requests. I asked SOE for a non-stupid-looking cat mount in EQ2...but I never got it =(. In addition, there were several forum topics that were essentially a group of people who wanted something would post arguments, granted some stupid and some legitimate and thought out. These topics were labled as Dead Horse topics, since either SOE had already stated long ago that it was not in their game plan or otherwise never chimed in.

SE can't answer to every back and call, much less cater to every idea small groups of players have. Your "well, I don't see the issue, so why not?" logic just doesn't make sense in a MMO forum community. Well, it does, but it's just regarded as "Can I has this?" dribble.

SE's got more important stuff to do, like generate me a THF class (even though PUG was supposed to be it, I still have my fingers crossed)! Well, who knows what they got planned, but...yeah. Second class being the same class, just with a different faction title and a pet. meh. I would hope SE thought of something better to do with their time, and I'm putting faith and money down that says that they will.
