You get the point. Because something isn't popular doesn't automatically make it bad. I challenge you to come up with a negative impact that outweights people being able to get back melded materia. This is exactly what is bad about the idea. Everyone thinks taxes are allocated to specific funds rather than just tossed into a general slush fund the government can spend any which way they want like most taxes are. It seems like a good idea until you realize how it's being exploited/abused/mishandled by poor management and little to no oversight.
This OP's idea doesn't even really provide the SENSE of being a good idea from the start, how do you think it's going to end?
Also your comparison isn't really apt, taxes would be like what SE did to the market wards for selling items outside the designated ward. This OP's idea is more like the government coming to the local used car dealership and smashing all the cars up so people are motivated to buy from private sellers or buy new cars altogether.
People being able to get back melded materia.
What's the point of spiritbonding/materia/melding/creating most 40+ gear to spiritbond if you can just take the materia you like back? The whole point of materia was to encourage people to use up more gear FOR materia which clears the economy from a build up of gear in the first place.
Wait are people actually unironically saying that this idea has the remotest fragmentary scrap of merit whatsoever?

7UP!
Not me, the idea is terrible and the OP should feel terrible about even proposing it (even though it was purely for inflammatory purposes).
But this is an SE MMO, there are bound to be masochists who really do believe that being punished is a good idea.
wtf did I just read..(op)
I..I don't get it...
Yoshi-P definitely will not agree with this. He gonna needs to rack his brain to compensate. Troublesome!
