Right because anyone who sees it any differently to you is completely wrong. You are the holy light of 100% correctness and should be called the Fortune Teller because you see everything the way it should be with no doubt!Seems like only you and me are the only ones that understand the meaning behind the letter :/. Keep forgetting theirs more trolls than white knights ( if you wanna call us that anyhow) I'm just speaking my mind on how I see the letter lol.
Just for the record I AM DISAPPOINTED THAT THE TRAILER ISN'T COMING AT E3!! But I also understand why they revoked it too till August. People just only look at 1 side of the coin when there's 2 sides to every coin. :/
...
Yes because you totally have to physically be there to see the trailer they stream live online to millions of viewers all over the world.A quick Google search will show you how many people have been in attendance to e3 over the past few years, and while it did increase over last year, it's pretty much flat lining around 45k attendance given the nature of the attendees, which is a relatively static number of industry professionals, analysts, investors, etc. SE probably isn't worried about all these suits because fuck it, they're SE and they've already mentioned previously that they ain't worried about that sort of thing.
Are you serious?
Ok listen for a little bit, they do not need a trailer for the press conferance, they will probably talk about the changes they have made, show some ingame footage (not a trailer) from 2.0 to completly wow the audiance and viewers, then in Aug release the trailer, possibly at gamescom, (15th-19th Aug) then at TGS show some more gameplay this will bring new players in and make them want to play (assuming it is all good)FFXIV 2.0 trailers not being shown at e3 is one of the biggest marketing flops I've ever seen. I thought after all these years Square Enix would finally learn.....e3 is the best way to capture the attention of a western audience , period. Showing it at TSG, GC....doesn't matter....there are hundreds and thousands more that watch the e3 coverage live. If the trailer is finished...why not show it? do they have something to hide...possibly not enough substance to show the viewers...
Studying advertising.. this almost makes no sense in terms of a marketing perspective. The press conferences are the only thing the majority of players care about, FFXIV should have been there.
The gameplay is what matters, so they want to show that to the masses, the trailer can be shown at gamescom, which has less viewers than E3, and more info at TGS, this will attract everyone, and show what 2.0 will do. Alot of people don't care about none gameplay trailers, they care about gameplay.
Is there going to be a dev response or is the letter meant to be confusing?
I've never seen so many people who lack basic reading skills.
Going to E3For myself, I’m shifting into super producer mode for the release of version 2.0.
I’m in Japan right now, but will soon be winging my way to LA for E3.
Showing content at E3Well, the public release of version 2.0 is set to kickoff with this year’s E3 in Los Angeles. We also plan to unveil a brand new promotion site for version 2.0 soon after E3 ends.
Releasing website after new content is shown at E3
Not showing a trailer at E3We had planned to release a new trailer for version 2.0 at E3 this year, but instead we’ve decided to keep it under wraps for now.
Trailer = trickle. Instead they are taking a different approach to E3.We came to the conclusion that the most effective way to introduce version 2.0 to the world would be with a flood of new material rather than just a trickle.
Now according to the road map they have "2.0 Marketing Campaign (Including Trailer Release)" listed in August.
It is heavily suggested there will be content at E3 followed by the website with information and then the trailer will be shown later in august along with more information coming out regularly and consistently.

Two sides to every coin: Side 1 E3 45,000 attendance, Side 2 Gamescon 275,000 which one would they want to do E3 with less attendance, or Gamescom with 4 times the amount of E3? This is exactly why they made this change, Thanks Malakhim! So word on the rumor mill(ie this thread) is that they're moving up the trailer(which could be nothing huge anyway) is being moved to August? That's a bloody brilliant(if not expected) move, and it shows that marketing knows what they're doing(and that they're smarter than most of you). For one thing, this move(and this letter) show that while this community might "help" with feedback in certain fine-tuning, it still isn't anywhere near big enough to have a large impact, and that's exactly what SE is going for.

Meanwhile over in Europa, Gamescom is only in it's FOURTH year(2009 -2012), and it has already seen a whopping 275 THOUSAND attendance. The audience also has a key element that e3 has dismissed: the gamers and fans. You aren't going to see non-professionals at e3, and that means that at Gamesom, there are actual THRONGS of people and fans(your target audience) PLAYING YOUR GAME.
There's still a large portion of gamers that don't get their information online or through the lodestone. Hell, I have people in my Linkshell that don't even know what the Lodestone even is. Going to a gaming con and hearing a lot of buzz about certain things on the show floor can attract a much larger following. Besides, most major NA gaming outlets are sending people to Köln for Gamescom anyway. Give the site and online info for the people who know how to find it, and make the big splash at Gamescom like they did originally in 2009.
Just like the trolls are the holy grail on the forums? Yep
Yeah but if they really don't change the name I will go apeshit. That's the dumbest console name in history.
To give the interviews those poor people had booked with him only to hear him say "please wait a little while longer!".
Thats because they dont let just anybody into E3. It is intended for members of the industry. It is an event that gets a tremendous amount of media coverage though and not showing a trailer there is a mistake. The point of trailers is to be teasers, not to be informative. It would have gotten the game a lot more attention than some interviews that will mostly be read by readers of this forum. So word on the rumor mill(ie this thread) is that they're moving up the trailer(which could be nothing huge anyway) is being moved to August? Right because its not like its streamed live anywhere, you have to be at e3 to see it.
Numbers = Nothing.
Guildwars 2 @ Gamescom will stomp all over XIV and pull in the people anyway lol.
