Suggestion: Bed Bonus ~ Direct EXP

Is there any actual reason people are getting a pickle up their pucker about this? It seems like a really bizarre thing to get this angsty about.

The only reason to get in a pickle is because people don't understand why something is unnecessary/not-needed/a waste of develeoper time. Simply, a proposal is being made to fix something that isn't broken.

Saves me no time, it is actually slowing me down because I just dont want to waste it things i dont really care about.

If you don't care about it, why are you doing anything on it at all? And it does save you some time, because odds are you're going to max it / level it eventually anyway.

Personally, i'm virtually always in rested bonus mode, so it really doesn't matter what job gets rested EXP, because I'm ALWAYS getting rested EXP (And it's not because I'm not playing, either- It's because I'm playing on my main more often than not, so no bonus is used up).

Your suggestion adds nothing to the game and would waste however much of the developers time you'd think it would take. The system is fine the way it is and doesn't need to be changed because you accidentally made progress on a job you 'don't care about.' How horrible!

if you're just repairing stuff, repairing gives so little EXP that your loss is almost zero. The total bonus lost repairing your gear is probably less than what you'd get from killing 1 monster.

I like the idea (kinda) of being able to dictate what you use your rested bonus for. ie. Being able to toggle it on and off.

I definitely dont like any kind of a direct to XP method. That would defeat the experience system all together. Worse tha PL'ing you would then truely have a class with no idea of how to use it. You're robbing yourself of an aspect of the game. Me. I'm not a fan of the DoL and DoH classes. DoH bores me to tears TBH. DoL at least gets you out exploring and visiting various places.

The rested bonus is just another facet of how you apply game strategy. Just like using food to give a tiny boost in XP. XP is XP in this game. You're not "wasting" it by using it for less-loved professions. Sooner or later you'll 50 up all your classes and the bonus just shortens the entire process a little. Me, right now I am working DoW's much more than the others. But more importantly rested bonus or not I would still be doing the same thing.... having fun.

Considering how easy it is to get xp on a battle class if you use your bonus on anything but crafting/gathering then you are doing it wrong. (Unless you are in that BATTLE CLASS ONRY archetype)

How about you use it on the class you want to use it on instead of getting into an exp party to blow it away?

Last time I checked exp is exp in any form.. Perhaps what you want is a ring that will grant an extra bonus to exp up to 1000.... personally i think the bed resting is unnecessary. I am always amazed by the amount of people that want the game to be easier it seems. Oh no I can only play casually.. cater to me! This is casual.. I dont know what you think hardcore is.. but xiv in itself is not it. There aren't any 48 hour pops.. insanely more amounts of exp, hp, mp.. "we need <insert favored jobs here> because thats the only set up that can kill this...", next thing you know people will be requesting to be teleported directly to the hard primal fights... oh wait...

Wouldnt be a very good idea to turn it into direct exp. Someone could just quit the game for a year and come back to maxed jobs.

Bed Bonus has a Cap of like 20k-40k EXP that alone cant max your jobs out. Plus quitting the game would just turn your character off unless you want to pay Square Enix a year without playing the game.

Also unless I missed something super hardcore nobody actually even remotely suggested PUSH BUTAN, GET XP, somebody just read the word "Direct" in the title and started mashing buttons in response without reading the OP or the argument and a misunderstanding arose.

There's no misunderstanding. I'm not one of the people who thought he meant "have my bonus EXP just given to me without fighting." I know full well he meant "Let me turn off bonus EXP for certain jobs"
