Bah, I typed up a long ass response to this and my browser ate it.
Other games don't have the "level all classes on one character" mechanic - and Guardian's Favour, while terrible in every way comparatively, let you choose when you wanted to apply it - so this is a problem unique to XIV, you can't really bring other games into the picture.
It's not the end of the world if my PGL or ARC gets some bonus XP, true, especially given the way mob XP calc works to get everyone in a sufficiently long PT within a level of each other, but I'd much prefer to save up my rested XP for a long Mining session rather than feeling like I'm wasting it on DoW or feel like I have to do a bunch of Mining leves before my LS goes XPing.
I'm not sure who would be hurt by a rested XP toggle or why anybody could possibly even think of getting butthurt about this other than 'it's the XIV forums, someone has to argue', really.
7UP!

:facepalmMany of us EXP jobs and have bed bonus but don't have the time to craft or gatherer cus were in a exp party
Really?

Could use a crafting manual to boost your craft exp gains on top of the rested bonus and push the cap by doing local leves. This can help you maintain as much of the rested bonus as possible.
Could also solo leves to 50 if you'd rather not sit in Ul'dah.
Just...throwing those out there.

Its really easy feature to add in. Toggle it on/off by pretending that those jobs are level 50. So that to disable the EXP bonus. Same nearly has all programing drop for an option like that.
Be happy you're getting a bonus. If you don't want bonus on a job (why the hell wouldn't you), then don't play that job. People call me a naysayer, but really, this is one of the dumbest ideas i've ever heard. Just use the bonus up on what you want to use it on.
I don't care if you could add it by staring at the screen and blinking. It's not needed. A lot of people end up being in bonus all the time because they don't EXP all the time, so it's not like they're going to run out if they -GASP!- get EXTRA EXP on a job that isn't their priority! Its really easy feature to add in. Toggle it on/off by pretending that those jobs are level 50. So that to disable the EXP bonus. Same nearly has all programing drop for an option like that.
It saves you time no matter what job gets it. Thus it's silly and pointless.
