add sand box stuff to the game like. i dont like having a leash with 60min timers and people rushing you.

Back when I played World of Warcraft, I really loved the huge 18 man raids. I was really surprised to see so many people working together. I kind of miss that aspect in XIV. Maybe we will see something like that later beyond 2.0.
Rated from highest enjoyment to lowest
1. Accomplishment via strong teamwork, good playing skills, and comradery
2. Engaging in general japery
3. Being apart of and having an impact on the game's world (and not just what I see)
4. Exploration
5. Helping others
6. Growing stronger
And a twist, things I hate about MMOs:
1. Players who place themselves above others, for whatever reason.
2. The grind
3. Exploitation/bots/gilsellers/RMT
5. Accomplishing things where no real skill/teamwork was needed.
Unless it's a designated PvP thing, there's no need to turn an MMO into a competition. Too often I see E-Peen contests in MMO's, and it drives me batty.

Hmm no one mentioned crafting and gathering.
I don't get why people bot craft/gather, I find it relaxing.
I enjoy when I can make my friends cool new pieces of gear (sometimes with Materia attached)
Outside of that, exploring new places. Finding little traveled corners of the map to see what is off the beaten path.
Just your friendly neighborhood elezen
There's plenty reason to turn PvE content into a competition! I know when I played PSU people would always do "Races" where 2 groups of players raced to complete a raid(can't remember what they were called in this gameXD)
Would love to see something like that in this game(not speed runs mind you I'm talking about a race)
I meant ego dick fights, mostly. That has a place in PvP, but not in PVE.There's plenty reason to turn PvE content into a competition! I know when I played PSU people would always do "Races" where 2 groups of players raced to complete a raid(can't remember what they were called in this gameXD)

I don't mind friendly minigame competition in PVE (can you imagine group leves for crafting and gathering done like this? /joy), but there's no reason why anyone should boast how many hours more they've wasted than others.
I think we're very much the minority! I look forward to toiling in the fields way more than I ever look forward to Primal fights or dungeon crawls. A DoL luminary tool would be a far greater treasure to me than any Primal drop. And, as silly as this may sound, the 'socializing' aspect is pretty low on the list for me. I know, I know, Im aware of what the 2nd 'M' in MMO is for, and I truly love that theres this 'persistent world' full of dynamic events (read: drama) and autonomous inhabitants (read: players). But sometimes I'll log in just to listen to the sounds of Lomisa while i draw or work on coding problems. Maybe I'm a weirdo but, most of the time, I just want to be a cat girl, tanning pig hides under a lighthouse, listening to seagulls.
Challenge.
Work.
A feeling of true accomplishments.
Friends to play with.

Difficult Story Boss Fights
Good Story
The Adventure + Journey
I'll metion some of my likes in no particular order along with things i dislike or could live without.I'll also site some examples of either things i've tried and liked, or concepts i like/appritiate the idea of but may or may not have worked in the respective attempt;
- I enjoy group activities that depend less one a few specialized parts of the group and instead focus on the group as a whole (Example: GW2 which puts the more responsibility on every member of the group as apposed to a trinity system that can lead an entire group to fail due to 1-2 people.)
- I enjoy exploration and adventure, either long dungeon crawls with multiple forks and paths, or short dungeon crawls with the same (or more) forks and paths, with little or no clue on which is the most beneficial route besides experience. (or luck)
Also expancive outside areas containing things/places to stumble apon. And tucked away places that have envirements or things that either have a stark contrast to the surrounding area or make an impression.
- I like a solid lore wrapped story that encompasess every aspect of the game even if knowlage of it is not always needed. And i prefer games that don't automaticlly cast the player as the great hero and instead casts you as an adventurer/mercenary etc.
(FF14 does this fairly well as do some others such as Eve-Online (As a pod pilot, you were one of the elites, not THE elite) And some up coming such as GW2, The Secret World etc) My experience is story is more engrossing in a multiplayer platfrom if the story istelf views you more as one of many, but the "Hero" of the moment and allows others systems/mechanics placed in the game to distinguish ones self to others. Since in an MMO, the "Hero" titles is better placed by ones peers, then the entirety of the story.
- I also enjoy MMOs because of the socializeation. To share stories of epic adventures, places found, evils thwarted. I enjoy helping others succeed and enjoy playing games and share in the bianry glow of their victory, and mine.
(Eve-Online had a heavy Risk vs Reward ratio, which can often make the bonds tighter, and the ups higher, and the downs lower. Likely because of that the stories, bonds and fun you had with your fellow pilots were even grander.)
- I enjoy a healthy helping of Sand-box in my MMOs aswell. Which tends to go hand in hand with group activities and goals. When you can place your mark in the game itself as a group, protect it and grow it it seems to benefit the community and the group/guild/corp/LS.
Theres other things but before this becomes a bigger wall of text, FIN.
