The current system is just a poor way of attempting to balance casual and hardcore play, and it doesn't better reward the hardcore player.Actually this is the funny thing about the FFXIV community. Everything you described, low drop rates, drop systems based on a RNG IS what a lot of players in this game believe to be hardcore content. Everything you described is sensible, reasonable (if not slightly ranty) and equitable, everything that "hardcores" in this game detest and rally against at every opportunity.
