I don't think this is worth getting worked up over, but it's certainly not something that you can just accept. When a company says something untrue, it brings question to their prerogative. Do they really intend to make this game better, or are they just trying to hype up old content as new to use the least amount of effort possible to get people interested? It's a simple breech of trust, and the sort of reaction from "whiners" is perfectly understandable.
Do NOT defend square for this fowl up. If it's to be defended, they need to defend it themselves. The message:
Is untrue for Japan. That might mean they're only talking about a few pieces of art, it might be a translation flub, it might be a cheap PR stunt.
