Not sure if it's mentioned here but, there are already extra hairstyles on-disc when you bought the game. They just haven't been 'unlocked yet'.

You can view some of them here.

Man, bald lalas are creepy XD
I'd really like if we had some comments from the dev team about these already implemented hairstyles
WoW I wish the Highlanders would have had that Elezen hairstyle from day one. Only reason I didn't keep my first one is because I didn't like the hair choices. You can view some of them here.
Want to have more freedom on how you look!? Support this thread!:

they should do it since it can add more styles to the game and make you fit your character more. not like it will affect the game in anyway.
YES PLEASE.
I just wish they would put more effort into collision detection. Hair simulation is not that unrealistic anymore.
The hairstyle that will pierce the heavens~I kinda want this hairstyle:

Those are no extra hairstyles, those are all the hairstyles we already have ingame, just that they are in different folders for each race. In the article linked by Len, they just replaced the files to see how those hairstyles would look like if they weren't race-locked...

Yeah it seems like the Hair Files are designed in such a way that they scale automatically to fit the skull of the race they are attached too, which means they could potentially unlock all the hairstyles in game for all the races, which would be interesting. I'd actually love the Hyur Highlander Cornrowhawk on a female race.
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
I agree they should implement the Barbershop and add more hairstyles. Though I can't think of any that jump out to me.
I think this would really work well, or the ability to at least change up what we do have, such as color of hair or style.
and add a few classic hair styles from XI.
just a thought.
well that is mod reply in othwer topic of similar narutre, so might be a hintOriginally Posted by Bayohne
Greetings everyone!
First off I wanted to say that it's great to hear the kinds of things you're looking for when it comes to updating the character creation options. We're seeing lots of interesting ideas pop up! We spoke with Yoshida and he said that of course, while these kinds of suggestions and ideas will take some time, they do have plans for it in the future! He also feels that it's important to offer the option to change your existing character's appearance at the same time, too.
