I don't really have much to offer to this thread, just that I hope you guys come up with lots of cool ideas for new hairstyles. ^-^ (I LOVE CHARACTER CUSTOMIZATION!) XD
I'd really like to see some new miqo'te ones since I have a few female kitties already.
Who knows, maybe SE will write down some of the ideas for whenever they decide to start working on char creation options. :3
    Good luck friends!

I wouldn't mind seeing 1950's haur styles. I love that time period abd loved seeing it in bioshock and fall out 3. Or 1912 ish or hair styles from bioshock infinate (i so can't wait for this game ^^) I also wouldn't mind seeing more celtic braid hair styles. That you typically see in Irish fantasy.

I'll always support more customization options for our character - you can never have to many. I'm pretty sure a hair stylist/hairdresser is something we'll see eventually in game. There's certainly enough support for it.

I'd like to see longer hair styles and more feminine looking styles for Hyur females. Maybe not loose long hair, since I realize that can be an issue with gear -- heck, my short hairstyle gets eaten by robe collars, which is one of the reasons I'd like to change it. It'd be nice to have some pretty up-dos (messy bun, side bun, etc), french braids, and more ponytail/pigtail styles with options for bangs/fringe/tendrils to frame the face like some hairstyles have already.

For the female styles they'd probably do well to just buy a bunch of hair magazines and hand them to their female staffers and let 'em have at it. xD

Corn rows and mohawks aren't fantasy? Considering they are two of the most ancient hairstyles ever, I don't see why not, 'tribal' comes to mind when I see them. O.o

Cornrows were worn in ancient Greece, Rome with the Celts and obviously in Africa.... Mohawks have been around for centuries in America and thousands of years everywhere else. They are old enough to be fantasy :P

Have to go to work will come back will suggestions :P

edit: unless you were talking about the mullet then okay I see your point.

FFXIV was build around customization From UI,Char,Class so they should add this for the few who said it would mess up the fantasy feel. really? in which way so in real life your hair never grow? you never cut it? change color? i know i color my black just to try it out when i was a teen. The other person who said it a waste of time do you understand one thing?

Not everyone in the team works on one thing they have 3-4 ppl doing one thing. I'm sure 2-3 people working on it would only take few weeks to come out with the system then someone else come up with new hair cuts and add a few new hair cuts should take no less then 1-2month for everything to be done.

In World of Warcraft, you can now pay a very small fee of in game currency at a Barber Shop and change the face, hairstyle, facial hair, and hair color. Will we see this in FFXIV?

At the moment we're not thinking about it. If we have a lot of requests from the players it might get added at a later time. Not at the launch time at least. In the future perhaps. Also we don't think changing the skin color or face shape is going to be added at all. But maybe hair color.

    • New hairstyles will be added, as well as the ability to change hairstyle in game after you make your character.

These statements were made by Tanaka; who knows what Yoshida's stance on hair is.

and seriously, ren's hairpack for oblivion, was something that was probably best hair ever did in gaming ( beat only by redo of his hairpack for f3:P ). FFXIV hair is not bad, but somewhat lacking in choice.

If anything Rend Hairpack is just as boring as XIV's is right now. Sure it had a few interesting designs but most of them were "Bowlcut + Bun" or "Bowlcut+Pony Tail" But then again, I'm extremely Biased against Oblivion because Bethesda has no Idea how to design characters. Though Skyrims looking decent I still am holding my bets.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
