You play for your own entertainment, not to compare achievements with other people or to seek other people's validation
So you think cheating is okay to advance your own individual entertainment? Nobody ever said this was about comparing achievements, seeking status or validation from others. It's only people like you who are unable or unwilling to understand the point (and I have to assume that you're being malicious, because it's really not a difficult concept), which is that rampant cheating, automation, plugin and mod abuse has been allowed to go unchecked for so long, and it's causing massive problems.
The greatest community btw lauds and worships the MSQ to the point they cyberbully, stalk and harass streamers and other personalities who don't have the community approved reaction to particular cutscenes. The MSQ, the hundreds of hours of visual novel that it is, is supposedly the game's core attraction as a story driven MMO. The entire MSQ can be automated with free plugins. If that doesn't make people realise there is a problem, nothing will, and it's unfortunate that we have to share the roads with you people.

You haven't really made a case for what the "problem" is other than you not liking it. Maybe start with that.So you think cheating is okay to advance your own individual entertainment? At this point I completely agree. I have never seen a community that so willingly and continually works against their own interests, lest they fall foul of the approved consensus talking points. Even pigs at the slaughterhouse protest their circumstances. The community is easily the worst part of FFXIV. Cheating is black and white. If you inject code to automate gameplay and stretch your playtime to 24/7/365 when a normal person can't, you're cheating. There is no debate. I don't care what "valid" reasons you have for arbitrary code injection.
The FFXIV community gets what it deserves at this point: a company that doesn't care, not for cheating or anything else (check the status logs).
I refer you to my initial posts, which outlines what the problems are. Given your apparent inability to read, and lack of reading comprehension, I don't see how it would be helpful for me to repeat it, given that the problem is with you.
Other people have different views. Why does it not make more sense to take a stance of "this doesn't really bother me personally but it clearly isn't a great thing and bothers a lot of other people in the community, maybe something should be done"What's so hard to understand? I have more important stuff going on in my life. I never cared about achievements in any game - lots of them are artificial time wasters rather than accomplishments in the gaming medium as a whole. Also no one in my life cares about my gaming achievements, and I don't care about my own either.
People in MMOs have bought clears of raids and stuff in every MMO I played that had them. At the end of the day, who really cares and why? And for how long? And how meaningful are they in the grand scheme of things?
As for how meaningful anything is, about the same as anything else in life. It all depends on the meaning it holds to any individual person or collective. To some people, the health and integrity of their main hobby matters greatly. So a lot of people care.
Well, good for you. Many people feel otherwise. It is time and effort from their life used for something they care about. I don't see why it's difficult to just acknowledge the situation for what it is and instead of arguing against action and betterment, just give a simple "sucks, hope it's fixed". Unless of course someone is a part of the problem and engages in cheating themselves, in which case yeah fair, I wouldn't want my cheats taken from me if I used them either.I don't care because none of this is real it's just 1s and 0s stored in a database somewhere and when this game eventually goes EOS one day no one will ever know I played it or anything I "achieved" in it and the only thing of value left will be my own memories and the enjoyment I derived from it. I think that's easy to understand.
You've just explained why people might care about achievements and may not want other people just openly cheating to obtain them.I can hardly believe I'd have to explain the difference between caring about an arbitrary list of achievements and enjoying a character someone may have invested a decade or longer in at this point, that they intend to continue to enjoy until the game shuts down.
I find this laughable as someone claiming intellectual superiority over others and claiming only those who agree with you meaningfully contribute, while then making some dense reply like the one I quoted.
This is absurd. Many of us who decry the current situation in this game have been playing MMOs for 20+ years at this point. XIV is very unique in this matter. No other MMO has had such widespread and easy access to such a broad range of third party tools that give as much functionality and power as plugins here do. And all of it is promoted to by the players to the players, including new players.
