I've added the video instructions you shared to the main post, thank you so much!I don't know why they're bringing this system back. I don't know why they bother about culling that floor when you're on this floor, if this floor hit that number, sort by distance so on so on thing. Just use Frustrum culling and Occlusion culling like every other game and it would works fine. Unless their engine make it so hard or just not support these basic optimization techniques.
Btw, someone figures a way to disable culling temporary during current game session and it's very easy to do. Give it a try, I haven't try it myself yet, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpgK9Bbn6wk. Based on this "fix" and the comment on that video, seem like this system is a way bigger spaghetti than it seem. TLDW: you use teleport or return inside your house, cancel the animation, go out, go back in, repeat 1 or 2 more times, and it will disable culling for current game session, aka you only need to do it once per play session and it stick for every house you visit during that session. At least that's what he told in the video.
My friend and I will try this today too.

Is this issue for large house even being addressed? I see a sticky on top for items disappearing under 400 placements, but what about large houses and how we can't make use of the MAIN FEATURE of the large house which is the tall cealing build? priorities set by floor so if we're on the first floor and look at 2nd floor, all lights disappears, if we're on the 2nd floor and look down at 1st floor, all lights disappear....... I'd rather have it reverted back to 400 limit, was this never even a consideration for large houses because there are so few large house owners?

Good news! they gave us 600 more item slots but can only display 400 of them. Sounds a lot like a monkey paws wish come true!
So my guess about large houses turned out to be true? If wrote to support about 2 problems, items culling on same floor and when you running between the floors. Seems like L-house central area counting as 2...Is this issue for large house even being addressed? Funny thing, i heard mod makers already fixed 400 objects culling problem (well, they just switch it OFF as i read on their site). This solution is still better than leaving things as is. If Square Enix doesn't fix this in the future, I hope they'll at least add the option to manually disable it..

Large houses seem to have it worst. For me this sucks because I like a large open build with details that could be seen from afar. This issue ruins my build because some key items in the distance won't render until you get close.

The server simply can’t handle it.
Why act surprised?
Alternatively, even if we assume the server can handle it, many players’ PCs can’t.
Especially in a game that also runs on console-like platforms such as Switch, Xbox, and PS5.
Not sure if you’re familiar with Fallout 4 and its settlement system, but even in a single player game, there’s an item limit.
If you push it too far, performance drops or the game just crashes on the player’s machine.
The server's only role here is to share a list of items (and their coordinates inside and outside the house) with other players. Its not a burden at all.
Graphics processing is entirely on a client-side, and the only reason SE added this "optimization system" is for weak consoles like the PS4.
The thing I can't understand is why it couldn’t be added as a separate setting that can be disabled.

I think people are hoping it isn’t a burden on the server, but clearly there is one to some degree. The server's only role here is to share a list of items (and their coordinates inside and outside the house) with other players. Its not a burden at all.

Otherwise, why would item limits exist in the first place?
I used Fallout 4 settlement building as an example because customized settlements are loaded directly into the world space, similar to how FFXIV’s ward system works.
Sure, you can bypass the build limits in Fallout 4 with console commands, but on weaker PCs that can easily lead to performance problems or outright crashes.
If even a single player game can run into those issues, why would people expect an MMO to be completely unaffected?
Especially when the server has to handle hundreds of player houses simultaneously.
Unless someone actually has experience with MMO server architecture and knows something the rest of us don’t, I don’t see why it’s unreasonable to assume there are technical limitations involved.
I meet this issue in a day of 7.5 release, when my medium house was at the same state as in 7.4 and with same amount of items. Same for some other ppls here. The developers stated that 400 is a hard limit for a floor, okay, let's say it's also a server limit, but that doesn't explain why problems occur even in medium/small houses where there aren't that many items. If you are right and the things with their servers really that bad(i really can't imaginate such a bad code novadays), i think the only solution for SE is to increase server powers OR to separate instances for housing from other. Because there already no way to turn item limits back without removing items over the old limits. Anyway, unless they fix this somehow or allow us to directly toggle the item clipping system for our houses, or this bug will force me to quit the game. I can only imagine what might happen with version 8.0 when a lot of people come online.I think people are hoping it isn’t a burden on the server, but clearly there is one to some degree.

Crazy on how people expect hardware to infinitely scale lol. Remember way back when when the ps3 was around. It would unrender items outside of a certain distance? And Square had to fix thatThe server simply can’t handle it.
