I do think name change would be a must for a proper relaunch. I agree about being XV or XIV-2...or anything else...it's just important to break the link between 2.0 and the original FFXIV (and leave XIV like XI...with just a small dev team mainly for mainly for balacing til it's ready for an expansion) so it can have a fresh release worth of the investment done...because, as XIV, not only there are already a bunch of players with grudge regarding it but also you already have like a million copies out...i think anyone that was planning to buy it already did it.

I'm not sure where you're getting any of this, because I saw an XIII-2 commercial every other break throughout January and February this year. XII, X, X-2, and many others have had commercials slathered on the tube, from Cartoon Network to SciFi/SyFy to pro wrestling, basically anything with a handle on the 15-35 demographic. Most big SE releases get commercials, and many, many Japanese releases get all sorts.Hurr the primary audience is Japan. Advertising in the US if you're an off-shore country is probably ludicrously expensive. Forget just the exchange rates, the US is probably the most capitalist country on the planet. I'm glad SE isn't draining loads of dollars on a market that generally doesn't give a fuck about foreign games. Its just a waste of money. Fans of japanese games dont need advertising because we keep up with it anyway.
Major companies, like SE, or a Capcom or Konami or Sony, have US divisions that handle much of the marketing here. I doubt it's that much more expensive to do than any other advertisers.
As a side note, oh man, I couldn't go a freakin' whole commercial break without seeing this:

Not enough charlie's angels and magical transformations for XIV-2

Yeah like when they first dropped the ffxiv bomb that one time and we all lost our sh$t. Killed ourselves to get into beta, made up excuses why there was no content, then played release, made more excuses, sure that significant patches were coming. Until we just had to face it: it wasn't what we thought it would be.
There is a long history as to why the op's concern is valid, as happy as I am with Yoshi's direction so far, SE has screwed up enough times in their projects they have earned scrutiny and trepidation on our part as fans who are still crossing our fingers for them.

FFXIV commercial idk who posted the last link about the E3 one but that was just a trailer for E3 not the PR for the game this is the actual commercial for it and was only released in japan.
The period immediately surrounding launch was one of the most surreal experiences I've had as a gamer in my entire life.Yeah like when they first dropped the ffxiv bomb that one time and we all lost our sh$t, killed ourselves to get into beta, made up excuses why there was no content, then played release made more excuses sure significant patches are coming, until we just had to face it: it wasn't what we thought it would be.

"There's supposed to be lag! Responsive gameplay is for casuals! Go back to WoW!"

Absolutely agree, the fanboy goggles were on hard and I was one of them I am now ashamed to say, so today I take nothing at face value and wait on promises to prove themselves. *nod*The period immediately surrounding launch was one of the most surreal experiences I've had as a gamer in my entire life.

They have announced constantly 2.0 will be present at E3, why doubt it?
