Oh yeah, the healer strike that never happened outside this forum.

Oh yeah, the healer strike that never happened outside this forum.
It clearly reached the developers even if it there was no visible "strike".
But I'm mildly amused that there might be a monkey's paw situation where the developers listened to the feedback, hell, even took it seriously, and came up with a one-button combo and were really proud of it and think it solves the problem.

I distinctly recall all the whining about bad healers that cropped up after this, because people that had no clue what they were doing took it up as people that normally heal stopped or limited it to friends only.

Nah, it was evident the amount of veterans that stopped playing the healer role in the game.
It just so happened that a large chunk of the player base also quit the game, offsetting the amount of players that quit playing healers.

In the end, it had little effect in game.
see back then i started to run dungeons naked as tank to make it fun and challenging for the healers but that they didn‘t want either

i just wish they'd stop gutting AST every expac since heavensward.

Maybe their logic is ”If all jobs are boring then no one would complain at all because boring is the new normal!!”. Depresso twitter might agree to that lol.
Maybe their true identity is the RNGfest we get at the end & beginning of every expac—we never know what will this job become every expansion cycles lol.
Somehow it never occurred to people that spamming Cure II Cure II Cure II Cure II Cure II Cure II is just as boring as spamming Glare Glare Glare Glare Glare Glare. The difference is one pushes HP bar to right. The other is to the left.

I for one literally have not touched any amount of Dawntrail exclusively because I've lost interest in DPS jobs, and I am sick and tired of spamming Dosis endlessly on the job that I like the fantasy of and want to play that fantasy. And so I am on "strike" and will remain as such until a job's gameplay compels me to return. For me, I know that me trying to force myself through the MSQ suffering through endless Dosis slop was just going to ruin my experience. I'd rather enjoy Dawntrail's story and content with a job I can feel passion for, and should that day come, I will happily resub long term.
Now, am I the example of most players? No, almost certainly not. I'm probably an extreme example, but I'm not the only person who has said something similar about leaving XIV over healer design. While we might ultimately be a minor loss in the grand scheme of things, my stance has always been "why does healer design have to be so divisive in the first place?"
Why can't we just find a compromise where things are active enough to satisfy the people who aren't happy with current formula that's not too challenging for the people content with it?
From the moment we got info from the media tour, what I've said is I would've been entirely content to play Dawntrail if all they did was: decrease the DOT duration of E. Dosis to 15 seconds, decrease the cooldowns of Phlegma and Psyche to 20 and 30 seconds respectively, and had casts of E. Dosis generate 1 Addersting. Potencies may need to be adjusted accordingly, but provided the output was balanced, while it wouldn't be the most amazing thing in the world to me, I'd find it completely serviceable. Is that really such a dramatic thing to ask for?
We'll see how the other healers are handled in their evolved kits, but dear god, please don't let what happened to White Mage happen to the rest. Give us some kind of mercy.
Sage has failed to live up to the fantasy of a sci-fi DPS healer. Please change this for 8.0. Make Sage fast, exciting, and aggressive. It should feel like a healer that plays like a DPS. Empower the aspects of Sage's unique healing mechanics: Kardia and Eukrasia to give its healing playstyle more identity.
