Use stuff like Determination + Standard Synth or Culmination + Rapid. It seems better to me personally to get to 60-70% with as little durability loss as possible and Careful the rest of the way. With enough +Quality abilities you can get a gigantic amount of quality if you stack and get lucky, much more than trying to Careful the entire way.

Rapid can go up to 40% progress now but it's only if you get Great Success. It's intended to be your one last chance at success in a near-failure, so it works great with Culmination with guarantees your next action to be a Great Success.

The Greater Strides + Culmination is a fixture on my action list. Instant 50-60%, plus 50% bonus progress for two turns. I pretty much just use Careful apart from this combo, even on hard recipes. It's just awesome to Careful down to single-digit durability, then pull Greater Strides + Culmination and Rapid all the way to finish. It feels like I'm pulling off a lucky clutch Rapid every time, even though it's not.
