Aren't holiday quests a waste of development time and effort right now?

You all are honestly being sheep right now. Ship's sinking and you're happy to piddle around with egg trades, singing about that one fine day when this patch is gonna make the egg hunt look like nothing.

And when one runs out of arguments, resorting to personal attacks is the next option.

Then when your hopes and dreams get shattered and all the patch IS is an egg hunt...well nothing happens. You love that kind of thing anyway, because SE made it and therefore it's great content that everyone should be happy they have. Nothing ever happens to that kind of person who forgets they were wrong. SE knows exactly what to say and how to break nothing's to you all. They've been practicing for 8 years. You don't have a chance obviously.

besides the point but... did it ever occur to you that some (actually quite a lot, considering the crowd of people I see in game whenever a seasonal event comes) people actually enjoy seasonal events simply because they're fun, something different to do, and providing some nice collectibles to hoard?
If seasonal events were as useless and unimportant as you describe them, why EVERY single MMORPG developer in the world implements several of them?
You know, even developers with games in good shape have further fixing, mechanics and content to work on. So why do they use part of that time for seasonal events?

SE is working for a wide variety of people, with varied taste. The fact that they implement something that doesn't fit YOUR taste, doesn't mean that it's pointless.
