This has been their philosophy for job design for years now, half the reason why I want to quit. If I wanted the game to play itself I'd download gacha

So then the optimal strategy becomes pressing aetherflow on CD regardless of how many stacks you currently have and you have 15 aetherflow per 3 minutes which is usually way too muchwe've been back to folks asking to have it removed again since EW, which moved the mp recovery to Aetherflow and Energy Drain's become freely weavable from the 1.5s Broil. In ShB it functioned as a pseudo-mobility/weaving resource as RuinII + ED used to add up to the potency of a Broil.
ShB rightfully gets a lot of shit for the damage done to the role but I really feel EW's changes shouldn't be downplayed as much as it does (not accusing you of doing so but certain communities tend to).
Sounds like a way to turn aetherflow into healing bloat
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess

a skill becoming bloat due to them removing the foundations of what made it work is very on brand
Energy Drain definitely needs changes... Spending resources for a 100 potency attack is just bad design.
Should probably be 320 to match Broil.

They know their playerbase. If they do that, everybody will only want to use stacks into ED above anything else, and not long after you'll see people coming on the forums and complain that it sucks that their healing conflicts with an attack "used for 2 minute bursts" and that it makes them lose damage if they use them for other things.
With which other role I have heard this hmm... oh yes, the blue one on gap closers.

Better idea , just kick the "griefter" and different idea if the devs NEED to get involved, ask them to implement better systems to help people learn to play the jobs CORRECTLY so we stop getting cure 1 spammers in max level content!

It’s almost like balancing to the type of people who want excuse to bend to a job having differences preferring to wail on a striking dummy are exactly why the jobs are bad and the combat is stale and we shouldn’t be just accepting they are who gets balanced forThey know their playerbase. No the classes were badly designed long before that. It didn't help I suspect, but it hardly is the core issue. That would be the combination of not wanting non-static-rotation type classes + wanting more and more classes every expansion. This naturally requires drastic homogenization.

If people die because the Healers aren't healing enough, the solution isn't to nerf their already bad damage or giving tanks more Heals, it's to try to make people learn how to play Healer. They know their playerbase.
