Demiatma drop rates are unacceptable

Unfortunately, there's no pity system of any kind, so theoretically you could continue not getting anything forever if you're simply unlucky. It's pure luck and there's nothing you can do to influence the drop rate afaik, so you just gotta keep going at it until you get all you need.
One thing mentioned before and in other threads, in case you didn't know, is that the color of demiatma dropped depends on where in the map your FATE/CE is located. So if you already have all you need from one color, you can ignore that area if you want.

That’s just the RNG grind unfortunately. I believe the CE drop rate is 20% (I think the person who got 8 in 34 CEs was slightly lucky), and my own experience with demiatma grinding was that it’s incredibly fickle. Keep doing it and it’s a mathematical certainty you’ll succeed eventually. But until then it will just be frustrating. Definitely look up a map of the South Horn showing which demiatma drops where, so you can ignore CEs that drop ones you don’t need any more of, and … I guess just cruise around the zone looking for treasure chests and mugging monsters for gold pieces in between. (Also note that you can influence the spawning of most CEs by killing particular monsters; look up what you need.)

lol i plugged my demiatma drop rate into the osrs drop calculator and it asked me if i had talked to oziach

i still got all my demiatma eventually but man does getting bad rng on this sort of thing suck

If this hasn't been datamined it certainly feels more like 15-10% and the fates under 5% but not below 2.5%

If memory serves, the 20% CE/5% FATE rates were confirmed by YoshiP directly, it is a step beyond datamined.

I keep seeing "you only have to do this once" thrown around as if it's some kind of defense of the demiatma system. I'd like to push back on that.

Not everyone is here to collect every relic in the game. Some of us are playing one job and want that job's weapon. That's it. For us, "only once" IS the entire grind. There's no amortization happening. There's no payoff down the line where the hours we sank into this step get spread across multiple relics and start feeling worth it.

The justification only holds if you assume every player's goal is a full relic collection. That's not a fair assumption. A significant portion of the playerbase is going to do this grind exactly one time, get their one weapon, and never touch demiatma again. For those players, the system is just a long, punishing, RNG-gated wall between them and the thing they actually want to do.

A step that's "only required once" can still be badly designed. Those aren't mutually exclusive. The grind being a one-time thing doesn't retroactively make multi-day zero-drop streaks acceptable. It doesn't make the lack of a pity system acceptable. It doesn't make the experience of logging off with nothing to show for hours of your time acceptable.

Design the step well and then tell me it's only required once. Don't use "only once" as a substitute for good design.

Also I hope devs do not react to "I'm just here for weapons". I am here for a relic journey. Kindly do other content. Its one thing to argue for a pity system or a more fun journey, but this sentiment basically reads like tome weapons. Go buy those.
