If you think FFXIV does not have an economy, you do not know the definition of the word.
You mean player characters exchanging money between each other for goods and services? You pretty much just said in your own post that that doesn't happen: everyone makes their own from scratch, for everything.
If there's some other currency or medium of exchange in use in the game (e. g. "points" in an endgame linkshell), I'd like to hear about it.

For the sake of making your paper-tiger argument more substantial. We are going to completely ignore the market wards, kay.
Now we look at Repair Requests.
- Then Meld Requests.
- Then internal linkshell crafting and exchanges.
- Out of Market Bazaars.
- Craft Request Shouts.
You really did not read my post. I mentioned internal and inter-linkshell works in my post. You convinently overlooked it to try to fool yourself into thinking your flimsy one-liner actually had any weight.
This game developed an economy, granted and insular economy, but one without an Auction House. I already acknowledged that Square Enix made a mistake in denying the players that convinience. However, we as players need to understand that having it means RMT will exploit it.
However the fact that they will exploit it is a moot point to those who have already learned to do without it. And with every other aspect of this game doing fairly well in shunning RMT out of what they do best - exploit and monopolize, they're going to have a hard if not impossible time trying to achieve what they did to FFXI in their hayday.
Now did you have anything constructive to add to this conversation, or are you content in being ignored from now on?

That's not "an economy," that's "multiple economies" at best. Without a global market that would realistically allow "inter-linkshell trade" (if you will), the price of goods/services in one has absolutely nothing to do with the price of goods/services in another.
As has been pointed out elsewhere, bazaars are used for +10 storage and/or penis measurement, not trade.- Out of Market Bazaars.
The word you're looking for is "fragmented," or "Balkanized."This game developed an economy, granted and insular economy
The "it" you're referring to here is "trade with strangers."However the fact that they will exploit it is a moot point to those who have already learned to do without it.
You know what, this will always be a problem. The true RMT bots, the only thing you can do about it is report it to the Special Task Force.
If you really want to fix player botting, then people need to be willing to ostracize the players that do bot during there real life off-game times. I'm sure a lot of us know some people that bot, or have been caught botting, yet they chose to remain friends with that person. All your doing is encouraging it's use.
People that are on my social list, or in my linkshell wont remain in either of those groups after I find out. On top of that if there is a linkshell that I happen to join with people who bot, then to bad, so sad see ya.
A lot of people say gil is hard to make in this game, well it isn't and it is. There will always be 2 classes of players, the ones that do all their own heavy lifting, and the ones that are two lazy to do it.

Ziyyigo-Tipyigo I'll take your response as a 'no' to my final question.
If someone finds doing Leves hard, then they personally have a serious problem. The gil influx you get by doing Battlecraft Leves is enough to cover expenses through the majority of your leveling purposes. Endgame, you can chose to continue to do so purely for the gil. There's no difficulty in that, just patience required.
I think with the mid-level ranges, limited NPC availability and the market ward cost for the equipment, it makes that middle range lacking in terms of gear progression.
Gil and equipment are not as plentiful as it once was in those lower~mid levels. I think for us that have been hanging out at 50 for a while, don't see the point in outfitting those levels knowing where to go for the XP. But for the first time player, knowing you are performing subpar due to lacking equipment can be unsexy.
I have to agree with Hyrist on this for the most part. The main difference in FFXI and FFXIV is that in FFXIV the RMT can be completely ignored so long as you are willing to do the work in order to level crafts and gathering. Most things have the option to be farmed relatively fast and made. Join a half decent LS for farming the things you might want from instances and dungeons.
I have yet to sell anything on the market wards and use my retainer options for the extra space...but I store common materials I might need to craft my own things. This saves me from any overpriced buying at the market wards. You have options in this game...explore them and spend the time to make yourself more self sufficient. I had a LS member tell me I was very patient to have leveled so many crafts and my gathering. I told him I was the exact opposite and was quite impatient. I went on to explain that I do not want the market wards to dictate by price and supply what I can or can not do or how quickly I can do it. If I want something then I want the option to go get it. Not wait for it to pop on the market wards at a decent price I can afford.
But if BOTs are punished how will I get logs and branches???
