Part of me used to think a lot of what was happening was due to finance bros and ceo meddling or just Yoshida being overworked. But then I started playing FFXI again and realized what this game was really missing is someone in charge who loves the game, cares about the world/lore and tries to do right by its player base. Fujito, the director of FFXI, actually cares and it comes through with every single update and every single live letter. The plans they have and what they are doing behind the scenes that he has discussed sound amazing and you can tell they took a lot of care in what they are prioritizing and how they are making the changes they are making. Yoshida just seems like he doesn't give a leaping lizzy about anything from lore to content to how the players feel. The decisions and changes feel lazy, unispired or often just amatuer and there is absolutely no passion coming from the live letters at all, which at this point is more about marketing their weird collabs and silly merch than it does about the actual game.

We need a Fujito in charge, not a Yoshida.
