    Unlocking genderlocked hairstyles for everyone

Greetings! So yeah, the title almost says it all.

Each race has hairstyles that only males or females can have. Lately, however, we've seen new hairstyles being released which are clearly either quite masculine or feminine, but both males and females can have. Which is great, and it's something that should become a standard for all games!

"A Half Times Two" is a great example of this. The hairstyle is really feminine, but males can have it too! So why keep classic hairstyles locked to only males or females?

I understand it's not as easy as it sounds. You kinda have to adjust a lot of hairstyles to a completely different head shape and size (except with lalafell). But it's something that can be done for a hairstyle at a time in the long run. I think it would make worth the wait.

I would like to hear your thoughts and suggestions about this! To be honest, I think this would be a feature really welcoming for everyone and I find no reason to deny the implementation of this, which prompted me to post this. But maybe I'm not seeing other things you do!

(Please, I just want to wear that first female lalafell ponytail as a male lala...)

All this gender and race locked stuff was unnecessary even back in 2014. Like, why is a Lalafell able to sit differently than an Au Ra? As if other races can't do that little wiggle sit. Or animations in general. Why do Au Ra have such a fun cheer emote and no one else? As if my Miqo'te couldn't just mimic that...

There is a good reason why you never see any male lala do the /pdead.

I'd love to have my female lalafell wear the male version of Lexen-tails, but they occupy the same slot in CC/aesthetician. So they'd also have to consider separating the hairstyles that change appearance based on character model...

The simple solution to those would be a "Volume 2" item that is also gender-variable but for whichever one wasn't unlocked by the first item.

Because different races are supposed to look different and have different vibes (conveyed in large part by postures and animations). Otherwise what would be the point?

I see where you're coming from here, and FFXI even took this a step further by making the races have different combat animations as well, but I'd like to think the point would be the racial appearance and size, not just the emotes. The racial animations I prefer don't prevent me from playing Viera. Lack of hats didn't prevent me from playing Viera. Lack of my favorite voice options also don't prevent me from playing Viera. I like Viera for what Viera looks like (even though I much prefer the Feol version that don't exist in XIV) and being able to have better control over how I portray my character would make my day.
