That depends entirely on who you're referring to here. If you're talking about someone who has an FC house and a personal house, then no, they're not bad actors. If you're talking about people who buy up entire housing wards, then yeah, I would call them bad actors. They may not be TECHNICALLY breaking the rules any more than the folks who bought out entire wards with click bots and such from before the lottery was implemented (or reselling land at obscene prices from the very early days), but they're not playing fairly either.

Because let's face it, it's a LOT easier to win a house when you've got several entries on it from alts or alt accounts or whatever the current scheme to wriggle around the rules and restrictions is.

And that kind of thing is what upsets a lot of people. Completely justifiably. Because they're playing by the rules AND spirit of the game and getting the short end of the stick, which is not fair at all. What's worse is that Square won't, or can't, penalize these people because they didn't TECHNICALLY break the rules and they've got an established policy of grandfathering people who own entire wards into new systems when changes are made... which doesn't help the housing shortage at all.

I also fundamentally disagree with you about people not being entitled to housing. It's a major feature of the game, and is advertised as one of the selling points the same as glamour, raids, or anything other content. Therefore, everyone absolutely SHOULD have access to play that content if they want to.

Bidding with 20-40 alts is the current meta, yes. More if you want to get more of your service accounts involved, but that's time consuming and not usually necessary for smalls. You can usually get away with 5 to 10 on those. The most I've ever done is 60, but that was for the main Shiro large, the one on the hill.

That's... not something you should brag about. But given your screen name, I'm not surprised you are.

Took me 20 months to get private medium, after I moved my main server. 34 rounds, and of course the success came when auto-demo cleaned number of plots at once. Picking subdivision location might have helped too i reckon but who knows.

I have to agree with Burmecia. If you stop bidding, you'll never win...
I know it's frustrating. I don't quite remember how long it took me to get my house, but I felt like giving up (and I did, temporarily) many times. RNG feels ruthless, but it's also fair to all (provided you're in a personal ward where Mr. I-own-3-housing-districts can't harass you lol)

People have shared lots of good tips to better your chances, but at the end of the day it's still a game of chance. The good thing is that there's no punishment for not being the winner, your gil is given back in full and you can try again until you get it. I wish you all the best of luck in your future lotteries.

I agree, it's frustrating, especially if you're on a high population world or you are gunning for a very specific sought-after plot. However, I don't think anything they change now would really satisfy anyone. If they go instanced, people will be upset, if they go with whatever other solution someone may come up with, people will be upset.

It's annoying when you bid week after week and still don't win, but that's where you have to decide do I really want *this* plot or do I want *a* plot. For starters I had a small in Empyreum, a random one that had 0 bids. I decided that actually I want a medium in Shirogane, at first I wanted to settle for one of the real nice plots or a beach front. But as time dragged on, I decided that actually any medium Shirogane will do just fine and I bid on one with 0 bids. Aware that I got extremely lucky, but also aware that if I wanted to bid on the ones I actually wanted I'd have less chance.

There's this idea floating around in the forums about allowing instanced housing in the EW Island Sanctuary (less resources spent on it) or within the Loporrits' burrow (more resources spent on it, since it'd be all new), considering they have lots of space for, you know, preparing to evacuate an entire planet. People who don't care for housing much or don't like having to stay subbed to keep it would stay there.

Then, there'd be an option to move your instanced plot over to the wards for the behavior we know now. I actually think this would benefit the wards, as everyone who moved in there would have to make a conscious effort to first, get in there, and second, maintain their house there. If you don't visit your house often enough, it gets sent back to the island.

It feels like a good middle ground for both groups, but I personally think the idea may need some polish still. For one, we already have the Loporrits involved in an expansion, a beast tribe and now Cosmic Exploration, so I'd rule out the burrow house simply because we have enough Loporrit presence right now lol
The island is criminally underutilized. They could add the option to build a house on it as a last rank reward, but the tropical style is not everyone's cup of tea, of course. So there's some stuff to think about with this idea still.

I would be down for Island Sanctuary being housing if I was able to change the scenery/rid of the tropical vibe. But because I don't vibe with it I haven't really touched decorating it all that much sadly.
