We need a collection/log system.

How many of those items do you regularly use? I'm not disagreeing with the expansion request I'm just curious as someone who barely uses half the dresser. I also have all jobs maxed and audit the dresser every so often, if I haven't used something in a few months I just toss it.As an omni-100 for combat classes, no, not really. I'm going to be able to clear out some items that were duplicates that I wanted to wear on separate classes, but it's very, very easy to cap out items at end-game.
In WoW and Wildstar I had well over 1000 pieces saved to my Transmog List/Holowardrobe respectively. This game needs a similar system.

You're going to save glamour space by getting rid of so much equipment that looks the same in your dresser, or things you only wore because they were the best option for that job. I'd organize and prepare for it before 7.4.
Adding more glamour slots is tricky for them, You got to understand this isn't just a simple inventory where "number goes up", glamour is an instance (map) that is accessed exclusively through non-combat instances (because instances can't occur during combat). This game and its servers are based on instancing, every little bit they add to glamour, housing, etc, is a further strain and engineering issue. But the server end has all been upgraded, so they are working on pushing those limits.
In PLL, Yoshida explained housing item limit and debuff limit are going to take priority over glamour dresser. It will be some time before we get more slots.

There isn't that much gear that looks exactly the same – there are different dye patterns and undyeable parts.
Also, as I said earlier, the fact that they're not telling us what's going on with outfit storage makes me very unwilling to throw out any parts of sets right now. If I'm using two parts of a set then I wouldn't want to throw out the other three pieces or accessories in case I need them to condense the two kept pieces into one slot. It's the lack of knowing that is causing gridlock right now.

A significant amount because I routinely switch it up. I also have a ton that I keep for Cosplay pieces. I have an entire series of Skies of Arcadia cosplays on Eorzea Collection for example. How many of those items do you regularly use? The day they give us another option to store all the cool job quest AF sets that can't be stored in the armoire or reacquired on demand from the calamity salvager sure. For instance:
ARR: ilvl90 set
HW: centurio ilvl210 set
SB: improved Eurekan AF set (dyable)
SHB: improved memoria misera AF set (dyable)
DoH/DoL: all expansions sets
If you add all of those together you're way over 1k items already. It's straining on retainers, it's straining on the dresser, and they still don't have glamour sets to be condensed like lvl1 glams. I worked to various degrees to get those (aka not just going to the job armorer like in EW or DT), and I don't want to discard them.
Secretly had a crush on Mao

And yet this can be solved if they had a sort of vendor within the inn room which can sell you all the relic replicas or these special weapons, no need to store all of them in the dresser then. If you can easily buy them next to the dresser, it does save you a lot of hassle as you no longer need to find the specific vendor. The only reason to still store these is to preserve the dye on it.
It would be better if they were always available within the glamour dresser without taking any slot, but i can imagine this creating another problem, as the dye then can potentialy never be saved permanently (it still mimics an obtained item to store the info on, and with 20 plates this means 40 items stored).
I dont see any reason to store 818 weapons in the dresser all with their own dyes. Its far too unlikely that a player is going to need that many slots. For most of these weapons its just 'storing their hard to obtain reward'. And tbh, an armoure like storage for relic weapons would be a nice thing to have anyway (especialy if its only partialy completed relics). But they dont need to be available in the glam dresser then

If you read the translation, they are going to add more plates and dresser inventory slots but they are working on housing first.
Yoshi also said that they are looking at a massive glamour rework in the future. I would not be surprised if such a rework is a headliner feature in the next expansion.

They have almost gotten to the glam log, with the dresser sets.
Almost.
Just need to include all sets and give an UI that shows what you are missing.

Yeah I’m saving gear sorting for when the change actually takes place. I’ll probably just look at the shared model sets and choose the one I like the dye pattern of the most, like Brightlinen versus Star Velvet, etc. There isn't that much gear that looks exactly the same – there are different dye patterns and undyeable parts.
Also, as I said earlier, the fact that they're not telling us what's going on with outfit storage makes me very unwilling to throw out any parts of sets right now. It's the lack of knowing that is causing gridlock right now.
But I’ve already gone through my jewelry and saved about 30 slots! And if they do slowly start adding the outfit feature to other gear sets, that will save me some storage space as well: ever since the outfit feature came out, I’ve been collecting the entire set of anything I like just in case!
I am really hoping that all this is leading to an eventual catalog though… the one thing that strikes me is that outfits seem to function similarly to how items in the Armoire do… and they’ve been adding more categories to the Armoire tabs. I could see that being a launch point for the Armoire being tweaked to become a gear catalog, while the dresser just accesses it to set up your glamour plates.
