    Honestly? I think the devs really need to scale back on the one-shot mechanics. Like sure, it's a "Haha gotcha" until you actually learn the mobs in particular, but I feel like Floors 71-99 are literally packed with Patrols. I kept getting slammed by Patrols just trying to get down there, and it's particularly annoying due to the fact that so many can come up at once even when you try to hide off to the side(they can just circle the room and find you anyway if they're huge like the Sawtooth).

    This heavily reminds me of Orthos, namely with how if you get stuck in the orange juice or have to deal with Bird Spam in Floors 61-70 you're literally just having a bad time with mobs even with Pilgrim Pots going.

    The issue with weak auto-attacks and OHKO AoEs is tanks having nothing to mit and healers having nothing to heal, a reflection of most of the casual content now. And now with Phoenix Downs and potions being more flexible, it favors DPS even more.

    Today I also committed the grave sin of leaving the practice trial with a matched party (we all left), thus incurring a duty registration penalty. So you have to vote abandon. XIV game design strikes again.

    Enjoying it a ton. Finished by first eight floor 71 to 100 climbs, next to do 2 more for the profile plate. After that I should be ready to tackle a solo climb, and then finish it off with Quantum 40.

    Tanks still need to know how to position mobs safely for DDs and stuns actually WORK on things which is a refreshing change.
    Healers get to actually use sleep on things to cancel other enemy casts so there's that.

    Generally really enjoying it. I really like the weekly rewards encouraging me to come back again and again and the candelabra gimmick.

    Feels incredibly, incredibly cheap and not even like a DD.

    The biggest problem are the checkpoints, specifically the 71 check which should be hotfix-deleted immediately (damage has been done tho). The first problem that comes with it is the ability to low-stakes practice the higher floors and bosses by spamming matched groups. This in itself is completely contradictory to the core principle of DD: try to reach the end in high-stakes content and if you fail you go back. Also it makes farming the clear item way too easy and devalues the rewards.

    The second problem is that due to this the entire late floors (specifically 81+) are designed and balanced around random MSQ or raiding andys popping in there with no or random poms. Even solo the 81+ mobs fall over in 10 seconds when having strength on, while being absolutely no threat again like in EO if you respect their 'mechanics'. And don't even mention the 99 boss practice mode...

    There also is zero resource management, like I did stuff like wiping a flighted floor because I didn't feel like playing it and still made it to the end with an abundance of poms left, something that would get you a fail in HoH or PotD faster than you can count to three. I had a floor in the 90 set where I cancelled the mud ball enchantment simply because using the fairy wipe was faster and more convenient. It's a complete joke.

    Another thing as mentioned in a post above is that theres no point in going in as a healer because there effectively are no or only binary health bars (either alive or dead), or any tank other than a PLD because shield bash is just so stupidly broken in PT.

    And before anyone asks, I had both the solo title and accessory mount on day 2. Prolly could have gotten it day 1 if I was unemployed.

    In short, this will be forgotten even faster than EO. The only thing I will admit is that the presentation, art design and atmosphere are great, specifically the 1-20 and 40-80 'desert' floors, but the whole thing is just too damn easy and forgettable from a gameplay standpoint.

    Tanks are still more OP than ever in my opinion in there, because you can actually mit some of the OHKO cleaves (at least sub floor 80) with your bigger defensives up, especially with barriers. But I do agree that OHKO moves are lame and don't feel fun to play around.
    In non solo parties I tend to just go PLD because it's so much better than any other class for this, you have stun on demand to cheat the DDR more than just one time (other tanks/melees only have low blow) unless the mob is immune to stuns ofc, the best invuln for it, ranged tools, and cover...

    I honestly wish we had the pvp kits in there, each job could do so much more with their own unique tools...

    Heard it's pretty good, floor 21-30 is 5M xp at lvl91, 31-40 is 6-7M I think. Probably even better at higher floor series, not sure what people would settle for tbh in terms of reliability vs rewards. Probably not the lvl51-60 or lvl71-80 but who knows.

    While I don't agree with most of the whining in here which, for rhe most part, amounts to 'skill issue', I will say it's fucking stupid that the practice mode doesn't let you leave without penalty unless you use vote abandon. I was stuck for several pulls as the only one not dying, and when I wanted to leave, I had to eat penalty and... I just logged off lol.

    As for the 'oh everything oneshots you' thing. Nothing that isn't mechanical failure can oneshot you. Admittedly, your comp determines how much of the mob patterns you need to memorize, and Succubus appears to use server ticks to murder you even when you stand still during pyretic, but everything else is fine. If you have a tank, you can still do classic big pulls if they know what/when to stun, and get healed. If you have no tank, you pick them off one by one or abuse Witching to facilitate bigger pulls. Not managing that is, indeed, a skill issue.

    Oh that's interesting, I thought it was odd how half of the time I'd just randomly die while waiting for the pyretic to wear off despite not moving or attacking or doing any actions. I wonder if it's a bug?

    Aside from that, my only issue with the OHKOs on mechanical failure is the frequency and density of patrols in the final set of floors, unfavourable rng can trap you into a situation where you can't avoid the bad. The other night I had a smooth matched run end on floor 97 when we loaded into the starting room and immediately got trapped by 8 patrols coming from opposite sides of the room, and we couldn't save ourselves with a Witching pomander because there was a No Items floor effect and we didn't get any Serenity pomanders or Poisonfruit/Mazeroot incenses.
