I'm betting the French and German announcements don't have half the grousing attached to them.
Way to ruin Sasu's thread QQ community...
Catapult really does sum it up nicely.

-Competitions are restricted to certain countries because of mundane law. For example, Quebec is excluded from North American competitions because of their local law. Likewise, all the various European countries have unique rules and conditions for competitions that have to be worked through. That's why there are region restrictions. That being said, they're looking at more options. (And I personally note that the Garuda comp recently up is all regions, possible due to there being in-game rewards only.)
- If you're not living in the required region for a competition, you can still participate, but are not eligible for prize consideration.
So the vibe I'm getting is unless this dream event is taking place in game it could be for all players but since its out of game laws and regulations restrict who is allowed to have prizes.I dont think not being able to get a level 1 scarf with 5 def is worth getting bent out of shape. Who knows maybe SE will find a way around this and then everybody will have their scarf that will sit in their chest. But please try to be nice to the reps that are helping us while others are enjoying their trip to the US and enjoying golden week.

I lol every time someone complains at Square Enix (not at you know.. the stupid laws in their country) for contests not being available in their region.
I hope these are just 13 year olds that are not aware of these things...
Don't worry about that. That one was a joke. Half the winning entries chosen broke the rules.
I had this awesome idea that got shot down because of this, and then it turns out they didn't care anyway.
To everyone who is complaining about the contest restrictions: Calm down! You act like SquareEnix is deliberately trying to exclude you when they are beholden to YOUR COUNTRY'S LAWS. Sure it sucks, but it is not the game-maker's fault. Focus your frustration toward fixing your country or state's contest laws and calm down!
I'm so sick of everyone being so negative. You all need to take a breath before you rage-type out your replies.
