The irony, guess no one is cancelling their sub if they want to keep their house regardless of the game. I do wonder whether WoW would also have the ability to turn off auto-demo; or this is case removal, for a period of time if there are natural disasters and whatnot...

That depends on how long this inactivity is... If it's years, then I think it's not as bad as in XIV. But also, since there's no such thing as a lottery, even if their system have this caveat, it's still far ahead.

My problem in XIV is not even the auto demolition, but because you can't have a house again right as you return. The expensive amount of gil to get it is secondary but also an annoyance.

This is misleading. This isn't demolishing your actual house, just removing it from the neighborhood. Also, WoW does not have a limit on housing, so you can just move your house back to a neighborhood (or the previous one) when you are active again.

Edit: And if it wasn't clear, you don't not lose the configuration of your house. Your house design is saved.

I've always suspected consoles are what are holding back housing options.
Wow is adding glamour plates also. You will transmog a slot now and have multiple profiles that some can even auto trigger based on location.

Or… we could just get instanced housing, which would free up plots in the wards for those who actually want to engage with that messy, outdated system of limited public housing.

Wards sound good on paper, but in execution? A disaster. Just take a stroll through any ward and you’ll see mostly empty streets with decorated plots.

Instanced housing would eliminate the need for constant new wards. Honestly, they should just rework apartments into instanced housing at this point.

When you have the same system that exists except one group of players has to pay to keep it and the other doesn't have to you created a problem

I find it hard to believe.People complain about the ward system as much as they do and complain about how empty it is. But then say there's a demand for it. I think the demand is obtaining something that everyone doesn't have. But once they get it, they're not really as invested.The challenge of obtaining it was more interesting than the customization of getting a plot for some
