Housing Changes should apply to Apartments and FC rooms

Heya!

On the topic of housing, I was thinking about how the new housing changes - particularly the 'interior' stuff - can only apply to houses, not FC rooms or apartments.

I really was disappointed to see this. My opinion on how 'interior changes' were implemented aren't up to expectations aside (a discussion for another time), I really think it should apply to FC rooms and apartments too.

Which brings me to future housing changes: There's going to be a tardis-like change where you can pay gil for making the interior of a house larger. I hope that doesn't only apply to the houses, but can be used with apartments/FC rooms too, as that's accessible to the wider playerbase.

That, and the eventual item-within-the-house increase.

Housing is limited as-is, why only make these changes applicable to only a lucky few?

Apartments I can kind of get behind. Mainly because of changing it to a Medium or a large and calling it like... "Eorzea's first 3rd floor penthouse" or something like that.

FC rooms I feel like can be left as is just because it'd be weird to step into the lobby of an FC to enter the lobby of your personal room which is the same size or bigger. I still think we need SOME immersion.

If anything? I firmly believe they need to add a generic workshop airship port for FC's that do not have a house and want to partake in doing Airships/Submarines. I feel that's more important, especially for aiming for loot exclusive to those who can only retrieve them from expeditions with them.

I mean the bigger and more important question is... when we will actually get housing updates? 8.0? 9.0? They were celebrating this so much before dawntrail was coming and then it went silent. Just like any promise that YoshiP does. It all went to "uf we had major graphic update, that ate all of our money". Then they announced: "dw guys on live letter patch 7.3 surely". Live letter comes = nothing, then "oh its 2nd live letter dw". It came and YoshiP was genuinely confused as to why people are even asking for housing. He went like "???". Then remembered and "oh... yeah... idk".

In my opinion this thing will get so prolonged that it will probably be advertised for 8.0

I can see why they wouldn't want people to be able to upgrade an apartment to a smaller/medium/large house interior. It would ruin their vision for housing. (Not saying I agree with it, just that this is likely what they are thinking.) But I would love to at least see the ability to upgrade the footprint of the room to a larger square. We can make our own lofts with those one items that I can't remember the name of and am too lazy too look up at the moment. This way apartment owners can have a larger room to play with but it would still keep actual houses unique so they can have their neighborhoods they seem to think people are using.

I agree that apartments and FC rooms shouldn’t be left out of the interior remodeling. Or the coming item limit increases!

However, even if it took more time, I’d like to see those get their own 3 sizes/layouts instead of just copying and pasting the inside of houses. What we currently have could be Small - Studio. Then they could do a multi-level Loft for a Medium, and a 3-story Penthouse for Large. Maybe Medium and Large also get “outdoor” (aka instanced) balconies or gardens for outdoor furnishings too.

There is a powerful financial incentive for Square to just let apartments rot. Unlike housing, apartments aren't susceptible to the auto-demolition timer, meaning an apartment owner doesn't begrudgingly renew their sub every 45 days even though they feel like there's nothing worth doing in the game. I think this is why submarine money-printing hasn't been nerfed (if anything, they made it easier to start a solo fc and run your own empire), and why they turn off audodemo during a disaster, but arbitrarily turn it back on even when that aforementioned disaster is still a problem. It's also why they haven't added new apartment instances despite certain servers being completely full with no relief in sight.

Don't get me wrong. I'd love it if they added more functionality for apartment owners, since I have one and want to add more things to it. But at the rate they're going, I doubt they'll do anything that doesn't put their bottom line first.

For what its worth, when interior upgrades were first mentioned during a 5.X PLL, the concept was quite literally called "upgrade-able apartments."
At that same time was when they announces they would allow us to remove the pillars from houses, so there is a precedent that it might apply to apartments and rooms.

Rooms and apartments have never been excluded from furniture increases, so anyone saying they'll be excluded doesn't really know what they're talking about
