States in the rules you can skip other stages and go straight to perma banHello fellow WoLs,
I know that this post probably would get a lot of hate but a good friend was recently permanently banned for RMT as a first time offender even though he knows of others who only got temporary ban instead. This game has been the main outlet that he uses to cope with his current less than ideal IRL situation so he is quite depressed right now because of the ban. I guess the purpose of this post is that we want to know if anyone has more insight of why some people are perma ban and some are just given a temp ban with a warning.
That's the thing it does affect other players as it affects MB prices. So yes serves them right.Yes absolutely empathy is good because one day you'll need it yourselves.
Here we see a person that has lost time off their life that is not a good thing deserved or not.
RMT is wrong but why would I be happy that they lost their account over it?
Rando bought gil from a bot does not hurt me whatsoever, it does not lessen my or your personal experience.
and again it's Gil; the easiest currency to get in the game. Insignificant thing to get banned over or be upset about.

Don't put words in my mouth a drug dealer and someone buying fantasy currency in a video game are two totally different things.
One is actively harming and ruining real lives profiting off the vulnerable; the other Made your shelf cost 20k more because he bought it before you, real life altering stuff that one... I'm not going to guess what type of person you are (a courtesy you have not afforded me apparently) but I can for sure tell you being happy for the downfall of others is a sick way of living. I agree; we are done here.
Sorry, but I aren't going to feel sorry for someone who cheats to get ahead while I have to work harder to get gil because of their behaviour. Anyone who played 11 knows how bad the economy can get when gil sellers/buyers run rampart *cough* Scorpion Harness +2 *cough*Don't put words in my mouth a drug dealer and someone buying fantasy currency in a video game are two totally different things.

Anyway they are not afraid to use real money so they can buy some jumps and get back ahead :P
Can't compare it to Mare as no one got banned they just lost the ability to share their toy with others. Now they have to go back to playing with their toy themselves.I was going to say, this friend can't be doing too bad for themselves if they were able to afford buying oodles of gil, or were profiting from selling it, so I'm less sympathetic.
FAFO at its finest, and after the whole Mare thing, you'd think people would be even more cautious about doing ToS-breaking things with that much blood in the water.

Banned for RMT?
Dang dude. That's crazy man. Wild.
Wow... I mean.... MAYBE HE SHOULDN'T HAVE GOTTEN CAUGHT? SOUNDS LIKE A WHOLE LOT OF NOT MY PROBLEM LOOOOOOL
That's not what i was referring to obv they are both violations. It was in relation to you'd think people would be even more cautious about doing ToS-breaking things with that much blood in the water.
There's no blood in the water as nothing has happened to them, they've not been banned, warned, suspended nothing, all that's happened is a mod that shares what they have done with their character - using another mod has been closed down. So I dont see a comparison.
I haven't heard of SE reversing their permanent ban before. It would be faster to register a new account and buy the complete edition on sale right now if your friend misses playing ffxiv.

I...what?I sympathise. NO WARNING IS CRUEL AND UNNECESSARY FOR A PERMANENT BAN. In a game that ignores the enforcing of it's own rules all the time.
I beg of you, tell your friend that it sucks. It was cruel. They are unlucky, and it's not really their fault they 'misjudged' it. This game has got to where your friend was probably under a lot of pressure to cut corners. At least they were probably trying to play the game.
Tell them that sadly, even as an RMTer, the game doesn't deserve them when it's enforcement is so CRUEL in its arbitrariness.
Personally, I've a lot more time for RMTers than I do the rubbish individuals that use Crafting, Gathering and market addons.
Such an unkind game now. No warmth.
Games is unkind now for banning players for things they've been regularly banning for for literal years. Lol ok sure Jan.

I cant wrap my head around doing RMT in a game where making gil is so easy
So, people have no sympathy with modders, but should have with RMT? Just because there is a sad story behind it?
What pressure? What is there to cut corners during MSQ or general gameplay (so, maybe outside of Raids and needing gear for that)?
That is also such a wild statement. Where do you think the gil from RMT comes from? That someone just sold their earnings?
