Funny that this thread is still up while others got deleted. The forum mods are a bit confusing to me. If they don’t respect constructive feedback
about why the shutdown of Mare was a good thing, then I won’t bother giving any anymore. To me it just feels like we’re all wasting our time
trying to speak here in this forum. So I’m done. Bye.

The biggest mod that I know of that even got official recognition from Valve (creators of Half Life series) is Black Mesa that started as a mod to remake Half Life 1. Valve even let them sell it on Steam and it's always being updated a decade later after the initial public release, it's really neat. SE would get so much good will if they reached out to mod authors and allowed them to make glams (sfw obviously) that are high quality and more and release them into the game officially like Valve did for the Black Mesa mod team.

I don't disagree with this, but for whatever reason SE wants to keep full artistic control over the content of the game.

The closest we currently get is the hair and furnishing design contests, where winners do get their items added to the game, usually about a year after winning.

Stealth nerfed my favorite OOBs as well as taking down the moon, im angy. Can't even make a alt on my server due to "congestion" at 12AM on a sunday. The server is DEAD AND I CANT MAKE A CHARACTER WHAT ARE THEY DOIING

Maybe people wouldn't idle so much or "make up their own fun" with mods if there was anything to do, especially for casuals.

And before you say it, no, I don't use mods but I was acutely aware of just how many people on Dynamis DID use them given the amount of times Mare would show up on adverts and plates, or how this data center in general was turning into "Crystal 2.0" with the amount of venues that were popping up due to all the unclaimed housing, and you can bet a lot of it was "18+". It wasn't my thing though, and they never bothered me, so I left it be.

Personally I spend a lot of time AFK myself on account of barely having anything to do anymore, but I spend said idling in the GC barracks and not Limsa or a venue because I don't RP in general and I don't care about showing off glams/emotes/minions or whatever is that makes Limsa the hotspot for so many people. I could even dress up my Squadron half-naked with in-game items if I really felt like I needed eye candy.

Driving out all the Mare users or ERPers isn't going to suddenly make my world any more lively or improve queue times. The data center most well-known for being dead just looks even more grave if all the PF venue spam disappears now, and I'm tired of seeing people not actually from Dynamis trying to paint the dropping of player numbers for ANY reason as a "good thing" because they think they're own DC is "too full to fall" and shock of shocks, I never ever see those same players volunteering to come over to improve the status of Dynamis' social scene, instead suggesting I travel to make THEIR data center and queue times better, or they bitch and moan that I shouldn't travel at all because "muh congestion".

Not to say some of the gooners of FF14 don't act in a self-absorbed and exclusionary fashion at times, given how these Mare codes worked and how it impacted non-mod users, but I'm not going to pretend like the anti-Mare crowd is somehow doing me a solid and doesn't act contemptible in its own right. If anything I've come to view SFW RPers poorly after all this, because the prudish spitefulness on full display hasn't been a great look in all the topics where they pop up. (And here I thought only Aether and Primal had too many toxic people for its own good, turns out Crystal is equally bad but for a different reason.)

Lol, I can't help it, my time on Dynamis has given me a much more skewed view of the game than it would be for folks on Aether/Prima/Crystal, and it remains a sore spot because everything people claim will "totally help us" ends up hurting us instead, and I foolishly continue to play a single-player game masquerading as an MMO.

Hell, outside of one other person (Rinoa_353), I don't even know anyone else from Dynamis who actively posts on the official forums, lol.

I feel ya. I was on Seraph for a minute (moved there at Dawntrail launch) and it was booming. Got a house and everything, was having a lot of fun. Took a little hiatus, came back, and it was just dead. So I moved again, gave up the house I had and everything. I've been playing this game since 1.0; and since 2.0's launch till now, I've never seen anything like it (and I've been around on 14). It's so bad, I encourage new players to go to Aether/Primal/Crystal when they're asking where they should go, because I don't want to encourage them to go to a place that gives them the impression it's a dead or dying game.

World Visit is one thing; but, now that they've let the genie out the bottle with Data Center Travel, I have no idea how SE can fix the mess that they got themselves in. They really need to figure this one out though, because the state of Dynamis is completely unacceptable.

Crystal is doing just fine so far. They are a lot of different types of players on Crystal.
