Ignoring the accusation of laziness, your solution to the lack of content is a long grind involving existing content that people may not want to engage with? Why not make interesting content instead? And how do maser levels fit in with the rest of the game? It would be a balancing disaster if they influenced stats in almost any content, or players would have to be the maximum level for balance reasons which would lock them out of content for months for no reason. Trying to use a shiny carrot to justify dull activities is never a good idea.

I dont know am not dev. but if they did it 11 and people enjoyed it there 14 can do it in there own unique way final fantasy 11 still active to this day. believe it or not alot of monster designs from 11 was copy and pasted to 14 so not long shot to believe they come up with something simular for 14 cause master levels and merits points was well recieved in 11

XI worked at the time it came out, same with WoW - but both games changed, and so did the players. The people who played back then are older now, with jobs, families, responsibilities. They don’t have ten hours a day to grind. What players want is to log in, do something meaningful in 2–3 hours (maybe a bit longer on a weekend), and feel properly rewarded for their time.

The problem with the current design is that so much content is “log in, work towards something, log out, come away with nothing.” That gets boring fast. By the time rewards do feel worthwhile, the content is already at the end of its lifespan - relic weapons being the perfect example.

One thing XI had at 70 cap was variety and value in endgame content. There was a vast amount to do, and almost every piece of gear had purpose. Gear-swapping made even lower-level pieces useful at cap, which kept progression feeling alive and rewarding. That kind of design gave content lasting value - something FFXIV desperately needs but keeps stripping away.

Also, let’s be real - people keep remembering the golden days of FFXI, but that ended the moment they raised the cap to 100, slapped on ilvl sync, and started pushing solo play. That was the turning point where the game lost the very things that made it special.

I kinda agree with you but kinda had to do it. lets hope never happens to 14. in 11 at time players couldn't progress story and new players couldn't get to end game either cause of gate keeping or just not enough players to do missions or quest so they added trust system. however it did ruin what made game special however 11 was old game trust system was designed mostly help new players get to max level however did go little too fair in it. 11 didnt have the numbers ff14 did assist in helpin players do needed group content and leveling

wrong or right cant say it was a bad move on there part. am neutral in it see pros and cons. however merits and master levels where kinda fun when got into them. they where different then typical grind to 100. comes a time in game cycle where if keep doing same thing over and over people also get bored. if ever expansion is predictable. they make no effort in class design like you said leave things as they are sure it will kill this game. cause generational gap players all want different things what would be fun for some others may curse. however its content we need more content haft the player base doesnt even know what fates do what? or give what i saying updating system is nto bad idea but everything you listed also not bad idea. it all matters what they gonna do first cause sure long list stuff they want to do

problem is when expansion comes out. all resources they have the dev team has has to go to creating a new world . new story new monsters new dungeons. if we want a broken class design to be somewhat reworked to be made more stable. this what i am hoping for things becoming stable. clear understanding what your favourite jobs are meant to do not be copies of each other. let say they add new job right how is that new job gonna be different all other jobs. this is big cause now have rebalance the scales so that job all the other jobs stay somewhat relivant this why strongly believe no new jobs need be released in 8.0. they have monstrous task changing how they balance do jobs every expansion after 8.0 new formula so to speak. yes that is needed

what truely ruined master-levels and merit points is when squire-enix realised some stupidly overpowered weapons. these weapons became the norm. if didnt use these weapons you where not allowed to join in on master level farms. unless you payed gil. this was very terrible. this in long ruined end game still have not removed said weapons to this day
