Moving it to the switch would be a downgrade to the game over time that is.

Honestly they can downplay it, criticize it, say they hate it, say its the downfall, etc etc but the pros outweigh the cons and people posting on the OF cant do anything about it. From a business standpoint it just makes the most sense. And the Switch 2 has an ethernet port so its the same as any other console.Gotta love all the hateful comments from people towards console players when there are so many players who play on potato PCs or laptops as well. Get over yourselves. This is an old, dying game that needs new subscribers. Y'all remember the fiasco when 14 first came out? When the majority of people couldn't get it to run properly because they didn't have $1000+ PCs lol. If you get rid of console and potato PC players, the game will die on the spot.
Just saying, its gonna happen. If it happened with xbox it will happen with nintendo. ( and it wont be the mobile version )
Yoshi-P mentioned recently that they’re already in talks with Nintendo about it, so it seems like things are moving in that direction.

I asked about this in a thread, too. I would get on the Switch version.
There was also a suggestion that perhaps it could be a good place for the international version of FFXIVMobile. I actually think that would be more viable in the long road, but would prefer standard there.
That's a freakin MASSIVE audience the game gas yet to tap into.
from what I understand the Switch 2 is equal to the PS4 Pro in terms of processing power, it won't be as good as a PS5, but it shouldn't have any issues running FF14.It depends on the hardware of the Switch 2, if it's more powerful than the ASUS RoG Ally X, then it should handle the game well as my RoG Ally Z1E (a bit weaker than the Ally X) handles this game pretty good at 720p low settings while playing at the 10 watt mode. I also hope it has a larger battery than my Ally since I can get two hours tops at the 10 watt mode, any higher such as 18 watts (sweet spot for the Ally Z1E/X) gives me like an hour and some change. The Ally X has double the battery capacity over my Z1E. But the Ally X cost $800, so it's going to be hard to believe Nintendo would be able to match the Ally X's performance for $450 for the Switch 2. When my Ally is docked or at the 18 watt custom profile I created, I can comfortably play this game at 720p max settings over 45 fps.
You're honestly better off getting the Ally X or wait for the Ally Z2E coming this summer and it should trounce the Switch 2 for portable gaming. SE doesn't have to do any porting since the Ally runs on Windows 11 and you can install Steam OS as well. It's a superior experience over anything Nintendo offers.
I mean, you may as well just play the FF mobile thing that's under works, no ?
The more the marrier, and as someone who started on PS3 (yes 3, not 4), I know sometimes your one console is all you have.
The real issue? Nintendo reportedly requires third parties to have unique exclusive content to their version, and I don't know if SE will wanna compromise like that. I mean... they could, but I guess we'll see.
I will definitely play it on my Switch 2. More so as a lazy back up, for when I want to craft or do story in the background. I will try a dungeon or two, to see how it goes. Obviously that would mean no talking, but I should be able to listen and prepare with macros just in case.
I guess I would also buy it for Switch 2. I love the 'easy portable' aspect of the device. ^w^I asked about this in a thread, too. I would get on the Switch version.
