And who would those "hardcore gamers" be, to even care about a bunch of irrelevant dungeons? That's what it ultimately boils down to. Hardcore players aren't satisfied with the content that's already exclusive to them, they want the WHOLE GAME to be like, Extreme-tier or higher and don't care who gets filtered out as a result, or even think that's a good thing for the game overall because they genuinely believe casuals "ruined everything".
Chaotic and Forked Tower, if not Dawntrail as a whole, just made them really comfortable with being mask off with how they really feel because the developers themselves are catering wholly to them right now, even prioritizing the budget to hardcore content apparently.
As for Chaotic, the mechanics and difficulty were fine, a step above EX but below savage. What made it harder were the number of people needed for it and the high inconsistency coming from players. God forbid people took the correct tower or stand in their correct alliances, or not get doomed a million times/run or doom a bunch of people, including themselves.
Why would you even run Dungeons for? You can get upgrades and tomes by running Hunts. Please make it make sense why this is yet again a Hardcore vs casuals argument?

I must be weird I guess, when putting the battle system and jobs aside, to me dungeons have become gradually more "complex" each set of expansions (including EW).
Secretly had a crush on Mao
Ok so basically you want FFXIV's devs to mandate that everyone else have their eyeballs, eardrums, hands and limbs removed because even the bare minimum is too hard because allowing other people to use their sensory faculties is now ableist and mean. Understood. Also remove people's wheelchairs because that would also give some people too much advantage.
Anything less to appease those who cannot accomplish the bare minimum will lead to a lifetime's worth of seething, hatred and namecalling as well as accusations of all kinds of *isms and *ists.
You heard the guys with 1000+ posts to their names on the forums we are still not inclusive enough.
As people pointed out above, it's really exhausting to repeatedly endure misrepresentational arguments like this. You think I like being lumped in with extremist outliers? Blanket statements made in bad faith are what "ruin everything".That's what it ultimately boils down to. Fun.
That's it, that's the answer. Making dungeons more complex to attempt to make it more fun for people who prefer EX up content at the expense of people who only really like MSQ for their battle content.
It's just seemingly crossed a line into not-fun difficulty for many in DT from a casual perspective, but still isn't the "make me feel like I earned that" satisfying gameplay hardcore players want.
Been in a discussion on this thread (https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...threads/521594) about another reason why DT seems to suddenly have so many issues from a technical side verses "skill issues."
TLDR: High ping is punishing even harder than ever and the systems SE implemented to help with that aren't good enough or working anymore.
