The problem with floor length robes specifically is that you can barely customize this type of glam piece since you can not see legs, shoes and often gloves are also overwritten by large sleeves. You can dye it and put on a hat. That's not very useful for personal expression. Thank you for listening to my explanation as on why I would rather not get any more ROBES, at least none that cover most of the character model.
Is your opposition to robes because your char is male? suppose your char was female, would you suddently love robes? what's the gender of the char have to do with whether you like or dislike a glam piece that, as you say, "can not see legs, shoes and often gloves are also overwritten by large sleeves. You can dye it and put on a hat. That's not very useful for personal expression." Wouldn't that apply if your char was female as well?

    Ever heard of clickbait titles?

I'm not sure why you are vehemently trying to force out an example out of me. Tastes are subjective. I also never stated or talked about "masculine armor".

This whole thread is brimming full of ideas and honestly I didn't expect it to pick up so well, lol. I dont play female characters, but I bet there are even sets solely designed on male bodies. I'm sure someone can support me on that statement.

Im part of the LGBT community and I can guarantee you, I'm not against expressing oneself.
You are pressing so hard for equality, but it's only fine if it goes your ways? Where's the tolerance, that everyone has their own preferences? Why do you need a confirmation if the answer is just: Tastes.

What do clothes mean in the context of ffxiv, if not armor?
Way to much strawman's for me to keep up with. All I asked is what's "masculine" clothing? I never disputed the existence of tastes or preferences? If someone is annoyed with the abundance of "feminine clothes", I'd imagine, they'd have examples of more "masculine" clothes they'd want to see more of.

Babythem, I am worried about your fixation on gender and sex. I mentioned that I do not want more robes because I do not want more robes. It's not that deep. It's just one of the things I would like to have less of for my male character. Do you understand? You think you are so bright, so you understand, yes?

You know, I've read your posts. And I did upvote your first comment too. It's the perfect counterpoint to this thread, which in itself is great. I mentioned certain aesthetics, bows, ribbons, lace are feminine in my book. And if you read carefully, you'd know which glam piece I was talking about. But at this point, I believe you just want to incite some fight in here. You're pulling others opinion through the mud rather than engaging with them properly.

You're basing your facts on RL body proportions. You bring examples from Japan and Korea. But what for? FFXIV glamours are based on c0101b0001 and c0201b0001. There are sets solely designed for those bodytypes. I dont need to define feminine and masculine. It would be subjective anyway.

People imply many things here, given the fact, that my original post is not very detailed - but that was part of the plan. I wanted to see how the discussion unfolds.

If you need a damn answer of me, here's the only right one:

Think you got the wrong person, because i'm saying clothes aren't gendered. The people fixated on gender would be the ones who unironically believe clothing is "masculine" or "feminine."
My position is dress however you want.. that's quite the opposite of fixating on gender. Also no one mentioned sex here but me, and that's only because people brought up anatomy in the context of gender, which makes no sense (they have nothing to do with each other).

We agree. It would be subjective. That's my point. But here on this very post, people are unironically arguing there is some universally accepted "across the globe" metric that determines what clothes are "masculine." To me, it's weird to claim that (not saying you are), but then provide no example on what that looks like, in game or irl.

oh come on!!! I don't know what the newest gear is, and I definitely don't read carefully. I want to see the feminine outfits on your character screenshots or it didn't happen.

Wouldn't it be easier to post some examples of the glams you're wanting OP? I'm still a bit confused about what masculine is when masculine in the western world would be The Terminator for men and Sarah Connor for women for example.

While this is considered masculine in Japan for men and women.

Sounds like a confession to me.

If it was unintended maybe you should reconsider how you start your thread. Everything else you said seems to be about other topics. So yes, I find it amusing that even you can't address your original topic. Hard to tell since it was so vague. You are entitled to your opinion but an opinion based on false facts is an invalid opinion. (e.g.: I enjoyed the part where I shot Gaius in the face while he was monologuing.)

You are not being forced and you have options. Define what you mean by "better options". Using male and female in the context of the game, most cases where a female outfit is slapped on a male body is a case of giving an option where there was none or wouldn't be one.

The Gold Saucer bunny outfit was something players asked for, for their male characters. Some of the requests seemed to suggest they wanted a version specifically designed for males, but what we got was pretty much the same thing adjusted to fit male bodies. Some were pleased, some were not. It goes to show that if you want something specific you are going to have to be specific. If you want a new design you are probably going to have to show pictures. Maybe design it yourself.

This thread is a case of someone thoroughly explaining what they want and uses picture to show it:

    https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...ther-jobs-sets

One valid case someone brought up was the dancer outfit from the raid. There were male and female version but I guess they only gave us the female version. The creator of this topic uses very few words, and no pictures but it is very clear what he wants:
