To put it bluntly, I think this is just a mentality you need to get over. Nobody cares if you're bad in normal mode content for the most part, and the people who do care aren't gonna say anything about it because they don't wanna get banned. At most someone might offer some advice. I've been in tons of parties where one or more players get hit by everything and die constantly, and nobody says a word. They keep getting raised until the fight is done. Of course this isn't universally true and there will always be jerks who are asses to players struggling, but in my experience they're very few and far between. And I get it, it sucks when you screw something up and people are mean to you about it. It's happened to me in the past and it definitely put me in a funk, but unfortunately that just comes with the territory of playing an online multiplayer game. But ultimately they're just some jackass stranger I'll never see again, and after an hour I remember that I don't give a shit about their opinion and move on with my life because it's a video game.

This is also my experience. Endwalker's post MSQ trials finally made me realize that I'm no longer up to the task, so I gave up on trying. I'm now officially a carry. I give the best I can, but as soon as the boss fires 17 AEs at the same time, I'm ready to be scraped up from the floor. I don't understand the mechanics, I don't learn from them, I'm just a carry. And I never got called out for it, not a single time (or course I'm not stepping into any harder content, I'm talking MSQ only).

So while the forum is full of people that give their best to leave a horrible impression of their character, in game most people either do not care about failure - or at least have the decency to rage silently behind their monitor
