    Much needed Aetheryte locations.

Dawntrail made some odd choices with it's Aetheryte's on each earea. thank god for the Socitety questline in Kozama'uka that gave an Aetheryte in Dock Poga, but I honestly think the whole expansion is using Atherytes way too sparsly.

Yak T'el for example could use an Autheryte somewhere in the South West near the cave area. The North west is ok for not having an aetheryte mainly because of the Mamook village aetheryte. But going south from Iq Br'aax is just a pain and often you don't even bother with it and use Mamook atheryte instead.

Urqopacha is another big frustration point, especially if you like to gether collectables you often have to go all the way south west to Larh Tortoh area to get some fish or other botanist collectables and there isn't an atheryte anywhere there. My hope is that with 7.3 and the Yok Hyu society quests, they will add an atheryte next to the cave Indebilde Passage or even inside it. But they didn't add an atherryte with the Mamook society quests so...

But these two atheryte locations would be highly benefitial to just general QoL. I'm sure there are others in other expansions, but for Dawntrail specifically these two are what I have noticed are sorely needed.

I made a post the Quests forum, I think it was, about a proposed mechanism for adding more aetherytes that would double as a gil sink + server wide project, and add missing aetherytes to some of the more obvious locations in the overworld in older zones.

    (digs) Found it: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...t-syle-project

Garlemald's upper map was the location that inspired the thread.

Urqopacha for sure could benefit - but like you said, maybe we will get one with the quests there.

The Ruby Sea could use one, although making that one work lore-wise would be rough. It'd have to be built by the locals. Maybe hidden in a sky island behind the volcano.

The far eastern side of Sea of Clouds is another.

For those older zones, to prevent them from seeming too out of place, you could possibly lock access until flying is unlocked and MSQ is done for the base expansion, by having the aetheryte on a sky island or the top of an inaccessible from the ground building. And the aetheryte itself remains invisible until a point in the MSQ where it makes sense to show it, although it wouldn't become attunable until a possible later point (they added the tech for this in Stormblood.)

That'd even work for the newer DT zones - you can't unlock Yak'tel's hidden aetheryte until after you finish base 7.0 MSQ (and the local Mamool Ja are grumbling about the outsiders, but accept the help because who doesn't want more aetherytes?)

Honestly they should remove aetherytes and flying and work on the open world being interesting, rewarding and challenging.

Is an issue throughout all the expansions. Generally they are placed for lore purposes. But they could just throw aethernets in the middle of nowhere and say some explorer dumped it there.

You can do both of those things without removing flying or atherytes. That would just piss off everyone and no-one would play the game considering the area sizes and how much you need to travel be it as a battle job or a gatherer.
It doesn't need to be dark souls levels of exploration.

Azys Lla still has the worst aetheryte location in the game. Even with the lore and story progression, there were plenty of locations that could've had a second one that would make perfect sense. But putting the single teleport point at the leftmost point of that enormous map just feels mean.

Somehow I've felt it alot more in Dawntrail. It didn't feel so bad in Endwalker.
But yea I it's not like the villages are that far away either that you can't just have them say that they expanded a bit with another atheryte and let it be that.

Oh yea this one is absolute nightmare fuel whenever I need to go there to do some hunts. Jeesh.

It would be neat to have it be in some form of smaller ishgardian restoration system or a gil sink like you suggested there.
But I also feel like I wouldn't want to press the devs to make content around some simple aetherytes either.

Kind of also feel like rewarding gil sinkers in any way would be pretty unfair if there's any meaningful reward in doing so. Especially something like a name recorded into history.
    Feels too gamey.

We don't need more aetherytes, we need smaller maps that have more going on in them instead of vast, but empty, expanses.
